Terrible Narration!
Revisado: 12-27-11
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
The storyline wasnt too bad.
What didn’t you like about Len Cariou’s performance?
I havent listened to a book by him before but he speaks with a sort of lisp which can be very distracting. I wont listen to another one by him again.

Fantastic Story
Revisado: 03-31-11
This is not only a great story of its own accord, but Gerard Doyle is the most amazing narrator. His irish accent is perfect for this story set in Ireland but not only that, he is very clever with different voices. You never have to wonder who is talking! I hope Audible add more McKinty books to their list, but they must be read by Doyle.
A definite credit worthy purchase.

Historia
Against the immense backdrop of the American West, Larry McMurtry tracks the Berrybender's as they make their way up the great river, surviving attacks, discomfort, savage weather, and natural disaster. Sin Killer is an adventure story as big as the West itself, full of incident, and suspense, as well as a charming love story between a headstrong and aristocratic young Englishwoman and the stubborn, shy, and very American Jim Snow.

POMS GO WEST!
Revisado: 02-26-11
I loved the Berrybenders. A big rowdy quite eccentric family wandering around the west. I particularly loved Lord Berrybender and the reader did a wonderful accent. I laughed out loud at his obnoxious attitude, but people must realise that is how the English upper class did really think about their servants. It is a great laugh now, but it wouldnt have been much fun. He was a wonderful character. After all of the adventures, they probably should have stayed home in their castle. Worth a listen!

SLEEPING AT THE RASCAL FAIR
Revisado: 12-27-10
I kept with this book for a long time but nothing happened. Apart from wanting to know who he ended up marrying it was as slow as a montana winter. After about 10 hours I just couldnt take one more minute of it and turned it off. The descriptions of the place are lovely but that just couldnt cut it.

Great Sequel
Revisado: 10-08-10
I loved Collusion and The Ghosts of Belfast. Pretty rough and gritty and read really well by the narrator. the only negative is the mouth noises in Collusion were quite bad at times. After listening to Ghosts of Belfast, I wonder if this is an Audible problem with editing, as the first book was narrated beautifully. Still it wasnt so bad i couldnt finish it. I hope Stuart Neville keeps writing more books like this.

Historia
Fegan has been a "hard man" - an IRA killer in Northern Ireland. Now that peace has come, he is being haunted day and night by 12 ghosts: a mother and infant, a schoolboy, a butcher, an RUC constable, and seven other of his innocent victims. In order to appease them, he's going to have to kill the men who gave him orders. As he's working his way down the list, he encounters a woman who may offer him redemption; she has borne a child to an RUC officer and is an outsider too.

This is a great read and the pace doesnt let up for a minute...it is narrated so well i was so disappointed when the book finished. I have discovered the sequel was published this month, so i hope Audible dont take too long getting this started.

Amazing Story
Revisado: 07-24-10
WOW! I nearly didnt buy this audio book based on the fact that it seemed so similar to Stephen Kings book "The Stand", which i loved. I am glad i took the chance as it really stands alone. The story is utterly believeable and not a nuclear bomb in sight! Amy, Carter and Babcock get woven into the story along with the other characters you will get to know and the journey begins. Just be glad you can sit and look at the stars in this life, as in their world darkness is a cause of fear.

Historia
John Hart creates a literary thriller that is as suspenseful as it is poignant, a riveting murder mystery layered beneath the southern drawl of a humble North Carolina lawyer. When Work Pickens finds his father murdered, the investigation pushes a repressed family history to the surface and he sees his own carefully constructed facade begin to crack.

HORRIBLE NARRATION
Revisado: 05-02-10
To say i am disappointed in the audiobook is an understatement but it has nothing to do with the actual book but with the narration. I found the saliva and lip noises disgusting. it got to the point where i wasnt listening to the words but to the narrators disgusting mouth noises. after listening to John harts other two books which were fantastic, i was so keen to start this one and even though i had read about the saliva noises it didnt show up much on the sample, so i wasnt too concerned. I tried so hard to concentrate on what he was saying but after about 3 hours i had to give it up. surely the production company can minimize this problem as i am sure it would have been a great book. Disgusting!

what a lovely feelgood story. the characters were a mixed bunch and even though you can guess a lot of what is coming, it is still a very enjoyable listen. makes you wish real life was as easy.
