The “unlikable mc” is the point (progression)

If you’re one that hates an imperfect mc don’t read this. However, in my opinion, the mc’s faults give him a feel of realism and relatability. While he might be a little annoying at times, many of his actions and thoughts can be understood as the thoughts of a teen that has grown up being given everything he could need or want without the need to work for it. The author then throwing this mc into the real world makes for an exciting experience! Please give it a try. Also, you can’t go wrong with Nick Podehl!

Introducing the beastkin and totally changing everything up was a bad idea and done badly to match. The progression has slowed to a crawl and the main group of characters were just put to the wayside

Love the real growth in the mc

I loved how the main character was written with clear flaws, not because the writer actually believes that everything this mc does is right, but because it gives the character realism and relatability. This is outlined in his overthinking about what people around him think and why he thinks they’re wrong etc. followed by him slowly coming to his senses and improving. Also if you’re looking for the litrpg aspect, it’s there and prominent. This is a very satisfying book and narrator. Props to the author!

Delayed satisfaction

All the suspense that was built was basically moved on for the next book to fulfill. Although the book was very well written and interesting, it was all plot building filler. In my opinion if the author will make all of this work come to fruition with some real character growth in the next book it will be more than worth the read. In this book the main character was pretty much just fighting for freedom and approval, and while it was interesting, it would have been wonderful to see the character growth that litrpg’s are known for.

The narrator sucks. The characters are shallow. The MC is self righteous as hell. The writer thinks he’s doing something good by writing shit about therapy OVER AND OVER AGAIN. The author writes random uncomfortable sexual inflections. There’s no real growth. There’s no real plot. You will only read this book and series in hope that it gets because the beginning narrative of the MCs powers is cool. You’ll get no such satisfaction.

Not boring in the lease. The only thing I’d prefer is if the side characters had more light in them or something to say besides being gloomy. That’s personal preference though

Wonderful

This book is just as good if not better than the first one! The suspense is continuous, the plot is rewarding, and the main character is likable but human. I have nothing bad to say about this book, and if I could rate it a 6 star I would. Can’t wait for the next book!
