Sam trains for scenarios of the apocolypse

The book is not a story or a how to necessarily. It's both fiction and non-fiction. Sam sounded like a free spirit until his son was born. I can relate. The birth of his son brought on certain fears.So he tells a fictional story where he is faced with a disaster. Then he talks about what he actually did in life to fix, avoid, train or prepare for said disaster. The book clips back to the story and he applies those learned skills. For example some one is shot in his fictional story and then the book goes to the non-fictional side where he talks about how he got EMT training. Back to the fictional story and he stops bleeding and stabilizes his friend. It's an awesome concept for a book. He's hit by flood, earthquakes, zombies, aliens, robots, gangs and all out SHTF cocktail. Performance was great.

Plot summary:
When zombies eat the brains of the living they get to live the memories of the person they ate. Well "R" eats the brain of Julie's boyfriend, Perry, and becomes completely infatuated with Julie and saves her. As he eats his left over's he learns more about Julie, Perry and begins to talk more, walk better and see things from a different perspective.

Awesome book. I really enjoyed it. Kevin Kenerly's performance was great.

night of the living narcoleptic

It was a different concept. Infected people just fall asleep for no reason, then eventually wake up and become hostile towards those who are immune. If they're not trying to lay a beat down on you they're heading west.

There wasn't much for gore. I'm pretty sure if a ton of people fell asleep in the open animals would be having a buffet. Stray dogs, birds, wild animals. Hell if I don't feed the cat for two days I'd probably be on the menu. There was a few moments that effected me. No spoilers

Found the beginning was slow. It started to get better at the end. I was hoping for.... more. Cliff hanger ending to boot. I didn't really get into it. Also any time some one calls a magazine a clip, I cringe. Performance wasn't bad.

Awesome Bass fishing fictional novel

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Any one who's into bass fishing or just fishing in general would love this book. It gave me a new perspective on ones mindset when fishing a tournament. How positive thinking and confidence can help change a bad situation into something great.

What other book might you compare Personal Best: Fishing and Life to and why?

I've looked for something similar and have yet to find. Mike Iaconelli's book was good. It gave you a look at his life and his fishing experiences, but it was a biography and not a written in the form of story. Granted a damn good biography.

What does Kurt Mazurek bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He wrote it so the guy knew how to present it and he did a damn good job at it.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

nothing extreme. There was a couple people who really got under my skin. When William tells his wife about the results of the tournament I thought that was pretty emotional. Oh the wife Trixy has got to be fictional. Lets William go fishing in a tournament and cooks his favorite meal for him when he gets home.

I would love to read more fishing books like this. I've listened to it 3 times so far.

Just passin' thru but wish I could have stayed

Where does Just Passin' Thru rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is an amazing audio book. It has a great cast of characters. Billy Bumble Foot and Winton being my favorite. This is one of my favorite books i have listened to.

What other book might you compare Just Passin' Thru to and why?

I've never read or listened to anything like it. It did remind me of Empire Records, the movie, in a sense that the story wasn't about the store, but it was more of just a back drop to the lives and experiences of hikers, the staff, Winton and his family. I think it would be a great anime series, but that's just me.

Have you listened to any of Jones Allen’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to any other of Jones Allen's performances, but I wouldn't hesitate to listen to his work. He created voices for the characters. Winton, Sierra, and Billy. He nailed it.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

With out any spoilers I'd say the story of Lorac and her gift to Winton.

Any additional comments?

I ordered this book looking for another hiker book, but found something much more. This book was funny, entertaining and had so many positive messages. This book will help you see things from a different perspective reminding "that it's not about the miles, It's about the smiles" and that life would be better if we all could just stop and capture the moments of our lives that do our heart good. To "smile and dance."

Fishing and hunting with the seasons.

Would you listen to Father Water, Mother Woods again? Why?

I have listened to it twice so far. It's a fantastic story about Gary in his adolescence. Fishing and hunting with the bare essentials. People using steel rods, old second hand reels, making your own lures. Wearing army surplus clothing for hunting and a single shot .22 as your only firearm. He also captures what every angler thinks and puts it on paper. "The next cast will be the one." The books gives you incite in a time forgotten when kids didn't have tv or video games. Fishing and hunting is what they did.

What other book might you compare Father Water, Mother Woods to and why?

I haven't read/listened to anything like it so far.

What does Patrick Lawlor bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

He does a great job narrating the story especially the boys arguments or teasing they do to each other.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I enjoyed the part about fishing for suckers with bows and spears. Hiding on the back porch reading books, eating smoked fish and washing it down with cold pepsi.

Any additional comments?

I have yet to read/listen to any of Gary's books I didn't enjoy. The only thing that could make this book better is if Gary read it himself.

Awesome book about Gary Paulsen's dogs.

This was an awesome book. Two things I love dogs and hunting. You can find both in this book. It's not exactly about Gary's dogs, but dogs that have been in Gary's life and made a lasting impression. There is so many memorable moments in this book. Dirk the protector, Ceaser the giant, Rex the farm dog, Ike the hunting companion and Josh, Gary's friend and dog. Some of the stories will make you laugh, some will make you think and some will tug on your heart strings. Any one narrating this book would be fine, but Gary doing it himself is a real treat. Having the writer read about his own experience you can hear the emotion and you just know that every word he wrote and in this case read was from the heart. There was only one thing I didn't like about this book. It ended. I want to read/listen to more books like these.

An amazing journey for a good cause

What did you love best about A Walk for Sunshine?

I loved the whole adventure on the trail, the people that Wrongfoot interacts with. The one thing that stands out of course is that he walk's for a cause greater then just self satisfaction.

What did you like best about this story?

He tells about every aspect of his journey on and off the trail. The fund raising and the conclusion to his Triumph of the AT. I really liked the end of the book where after the trail is ended he kind of does a Q&A bit. Talks about the physical challenge vs the mental on the trail and Hiking with children. Being a new father I listen attentively to his every word.

Which scene was your favorite?

His friend's dog and it's distaste for dog back packs.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I have read a few books based around the AT and the PCT and I always have mixed feelings about when some one completes their hike. I can't imagine what it's like to do that. Be on a trail for 6 months and then try to go back to the "real world." and be able to adapt.

Kirby Heyborne did a great job with the narration.

Think Black Ops meets Zombies

Would you listen to Patient Zero again? Why?

The plot was well written and the way the chapters were set up made you want to read/listen more. For me it was like black ops anti-terrorism operations meet Zombie Apocalypse. Also Ray Porter's performance is outstanding.

What other book might you compare Patient Zero to and why?

I've not read anything like it before.

What about Ray Porter’s performance did you like?

Everything is to like about his performance. His voice choice for Mr. Church was perfect.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

D.M.S. Killing the same terrorist twice in one day, all part of the job.

mystery- drama from the perspective of a zombie.

What did you love best about My Life as a White Trash Zombie?

I've listened, read and watched different plots of the zombie apocalypse. I thought this would be a nice change of pace. First of all this in no zom-apocalyse book. More like the old vampire novels where they hide in the plain sight of the public going on with their daily lives feeding in secret. Only think zombie instead of vampire and brains instead of blood. This book kept me listening and not wanting to stop. The main character, Angel Crawford, is well developed. The 21 year old is a drug abusing highschool drop out after an OD she gets a second chance at life as a zombie. lol I really enjoyed the mystery part of the book keeps you guessing right to the end.

What was one of the most memorable moments of My Life as a White Trash Zombie?

Angel's colorful vocabulary is one thing. And "Zombie Super Powers, Activate!" lol

Have you listened to any of Allison McLemore’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to any of Allison McLemore's other performances, but I think her voice suits the character.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed a lot through out the novel. But there's parts through out the book that had me angry at the situation and characters in the book. Like a drunk abusive father or useless druggy boyfriend.
