Toxic
Revisado: 12-26-24
This book has so many toxic ideals about healing, trauma, therapy, dreams, and the like that I typed out a novella then erased it because I’m not putting that much effort into a review for a book that didn’t put that much effort into it’s research.

Bad wroting and plot, great male narrator
Revisado: 12-06-24
While I could do without the female narrator, the male narrator was great. His distinctive accents and giving each character a seperate tone and personality were incredible. The book though was just bad. Mostly pertaining to the FL. She was a walking contradiction in the worst way. She starts off strong with thr silent strength she shows in her abusive home life. but it quickly deteriorates once she gets to Alaska...so like two chapters in. In Alaska, she proceeds to become snarky, rude, obstinate, and just flat out cruel in what she says to the others. There's nothing 'strong' about it - just bratty immature behavior. The paragraphs are way too long and the dialogue runs into the same issue. The emotional whiplash is a doozy - she'll ask a question, get an answer, and instead of focusing on said answer, will dredge up some off the wall turmoil and go full on 'woe is me' that the guys have to turn their focus on. I.E. In the car to have dinner, Hiro mentions Damien being immortal - she asks if he regenerates in excitement because of her own abilities - Hiro denies this and asks why she wanted to know - she thinks she should keep her cards close so brings up her dead mom and how she wished her mom had the ability so maybe she'd be alive today - Hiro feels guilty and says a few platitudes - now she's sad thinking about her mother (who she's hardly mentioned at all by this point) and looks up at him with teary eyes. Like I said, total whiplash. I can't believe there's 7 books in this series and all average 400 pages.

Poorly done (Spoilers galore)
Revisado: 12-05-24
This book started off strong. Where it went wrong was the queen bit. Up until that point, the characters were great, the plot intriguing, and the story balanced. The naked guy (Thorn) popping up was the blowhorn for "this isn't going to be a good book". Most of this book only covers a single DAY. Her bringing her sister and family along ruined any sort of plot progress that could've been made. Every woman is trying to get her 'men' 'but she doesn't know they're her men because it's been 13 hours since they met if that. Minimal world building before a prophetic vision, a corrupt council, and taking the throne are introduced. Narrators were fine. Definitely not the worst I've ever heard and they did a good job. I'm surprised that's even a complaint on other readers' radars after that hot mess.

It's cute
Revisado: 11-23-24
Voice actors are fair. Just don't take a shot everytime they say 🐓 in this book 😂 I didn't realize how unnaturally common that word was when I read it but I swear it's in every other sentence now that I've listened to it. THAT is a bit too much. Personally it took me out of the story and made the intimate scenes feel jilted instead of passionate. Like reading a 🌽-o instead of sharing a moment with the characters. My only real complaint. I did enjoy the characters and the plot ' just enough drama to not be pointless, but not so much it stressed me out. A perfect lazy rainy day sort of book where you just want to enjoy a story without too much action or drama. If the above might grate on you I'd definitely recommend reading over listening to it, but I don't dislike this story by any means.

Naughty girls need love too. A beautiful monster, that’s what I am. My packaging is just a little nicer than the creatures you hear about dwelling in your closet. With three baddies for my mates, things are definitely getting interesting. I think I’ve even convinced them not to kill each other. But I have a new purpose, someone is hurting our kind. Stealing Charmed magic in arcane rituals that leave my friends drained and dead, and I won’t allow it. It’s time for them to find out why even the Monsters fear me. I am the bad guy.

Revisado: 11-14-24
Voice actors are amazing, but the plot in this book just ticked me off. The first book was phenomenal and unique, but this sequel fell flat. No beyond flat. It tanked. They've barely established a romance. Her origins, what she is, and her potential is lost FOR A BABY. Chapter 18 is as far as I'll go and I'm so mad I wasted money on this audiobook. Didn't have much extra cash this month but I loved the 1st so much I figured it'd be something I could enjoy over and over again. Guess the joke is on me for not reasearching the reviews to the kindle version prior. I just got excited over the voice actors. They're pretty phenomenal.

I've spent my entire life doing two things: training to be a ballet dancer, and longing for a scent-match. My feet bled for one, and my heart bled for the other. Then my first heat hit, and my deepest dream became my darkest secret. I scent-matched with my best friend and ran. It's been five years since I last saw him—happily in someone else's arms—and I couldn't bear to break his heart.

my favorite of the series
Revisado: 11-08-24
Lessa Lamb definitely improved in this book compared to the others. My one complaint on her end is how she makes the guys all sound like they're constantly DTF instead of having just normal vocals for everyday conversation. It seems she hypersexualizes adult books, focusing on that one aspect. Perhaps that's okay for others, but it ruins the storytelling on my part. While there are adult scenes, this book also has a story. I noticed this the most with Jace, but Gabriel as well at a lesser level.
Aiden has pretty much the same voice for every guy, but he's not terrible and I didn't mind it. He has a very soothing voice.
As a lifelong lover and participant of ballet, this has always been my favorite of the series. This series is truly one of my favorites in this genre. I reread it frequently enough, especially when I can't find anything new I want to read. Don't think I'll be able to suffer through the audiobooks for the other 2 lol but I love the stories so maybe I'm lying.

After years of putting it off, I find myself ready for a pack. I'm not much of a social person—books and writing are my whole life—so meeting a pack organically is out of the question. So, when my best friend finds an ad for a Valentine's Day speed dating event, I take the leap and sign up. I only had hope for a date for the holidays, but I ended up leaving with a lot more.

I picked this book only because of the narrators
Revisado: 10-30-24
Literally I loved the narrators for Marie Mistry's pirate series so much I hunted down more content they did together. However, I learned a good lesson about audiobooks in this book that will make me NEVER judge a narrator too quickly on one series. I know how phenomenal they are, so it isn't their fault it sounded uncomfortable and impersonal. It's the writing at fault here. I've heard the guy narrator (I'm bad with names lol) use five distinct voices for the male leads, then 20 others for side characters. He didn't have much variation here and now after finishing I have a good idea why. The characters are 1D in this book. One is angry with a manbun, another shifts personalities theee times from the one holding them together to the hopeless romantic to the man child, one is literally defined my blinde hair and owning an adult enterprise, and the last is bashful and nerdy for all of two chapters then turns around and is someone else. There's no plot. Not even a hint of one. The anxiety conflict could've been handled better as good her writing career. If those are the only 2 conflicts you're going to use in a novel this long best use then effectively. I felt nothing between the FL and each guy. And if I heard 🐓 one more time during the super vague and sporatic sex scenes, I might've cringed myself into a parallel universe. The tropes were all over the place too - mysterious billionaires turn into hockey players that turn into country boys on a ranch. So it's not the narrators' faults. I've heard them at their best, they just didn't have much to work with lol

Amazing as always
Revisado: 10-25-24
This has remained my favorite RH series for years. I think since it was finished and I came across it then. While I didn't care for the demon series, the nicnevin series is just as phenomenal. Honestly can't wait for those to become audiobooks and I hope you use the same voice actors. Both of them are probably the best I've heard and their commitment to giving each character a unique vocal personality made this series even better. I was put off by the scottish accent he gave Kier but I ended up loving it in no time. I'm impressed by the writing, the storytelling, the voice actors, EVERYTHING. Once I get the money I'll be buying the paperbacks for this series and the fae one. Which I've never done before for an indie author.

Being the twin of a movie star isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Eva is glamorous, sweet, and everything I’m not. Believe me, every person in my life has made that crystal clear. The press calls me the Ice Queen, leaving pack after pack broken in my wake. I wish it were true. All I’ve ever wanted was a pack—to be loved and cherished the way an Omega was meant to be—but now I’ve given up hope. Every group I meet wants a copy of my sister. Let’s not even mention the ones who called me by her name.

I already know I love this book, but LMAO
Revisado: 09-19-24
i love this series. I've read it at least 3 times since it came out, so I'm leaving a review at chapter 15 because I can't stop laughing. The male narrator is ace. He used distinct voices for most of the guys which I appreciate. The female narrator....not so much. Her voice is too forceful and coarse for Esme's character, but the absolute worst (and most hilarious) is how she enuciates things and random words for Esme, especially when coming to more - let's call it intimate content. The forced sexy voice and cornographic moaned words are so bad I was torn between laughing and groaning in embarrassment as if I'd said it myself. It's not great. Esme is the more shy and timid of the girls. Perhaps someone with a more airy and gentle voice would've been a better pick. The narrator made her sound whiney and promiscuous, even raunchy, when the author was trying to portray the character as hesitant, unsure, and maybe a touch bashful. The contrast is jarring to say in the least. I didn't get reclusive artist with a needy but broken heart from this narrator. I got preteen mimicking what she thinks adults sound like when they're flirting or being 'sexy'. Less is more as they say.

The three fae kings insist that I'm their fated mate, but they're terrible at sharing. I know I should turn my back on them before they ruin me. They're too feral, ruthless, and possessive. And too hot for their own good. A girl would have a better chance swimming with sharks than tangling with the predatory fae kings between the sheets.

Cringe
Revisado: 09-09-24
I wanted to like this and it started off good in my opinion, but it just went more and more downhill. I lasted until the evil sister scarred her face. At that point I was done. I can't stand when authors maim their characters. The romance is absolutely nonexistent and the FML is one of the most annoying I've ever read. Nothing about her screams queen. It screams an arrogant thoughtless brat who constantly endangers others for her own sense of glory. A true queen would know when to step back and watch, not fly off on every shift in emotion like a little girl who played one too many sword fighting games after school. She's irrational worst of all. Nothing about her screams diginity, bravery, nor grace. When the evil sister slashed her face and I went "Oh just go ahead and finish her off so I don't have to listen to her awful self-centered diatribes anymore" - I knew it was game over and I was done with this series. Lasted longer than I thought I would.
Just to be nitpicky: the narrator whisper-shouting when Evelina yells is icky. Just raise your voice a bit, sheesh. Exclaimation can be portrayed as firmness in a minutely raised voice.
After checking other reviews who claim all her books are like this - I'm going to politely block the author and move on. Not good storytelling by any means.
