All in all a great listen…
Revisado: 06-19-23
I bought this primarily for the bundle value, and it was well worth it. The stories are believable and relatable enough; sometimes a bit overblown with emotion, but gripping besides that fact… My only complaint with any of the books is this overblown emotional-non logical perspective that the stories roll out with. A Female writer and Female primary protagonist explain this, but you’ll literally find yourself screaming at this characters asinine rationalizations and decisions at certain times. You do not have time to whine, complain, and overthink things (To the point of incredulity if this was real, and I think an insult to the reader’s intelligence …) in a crisis situation. If there’s a fire, then you put it out; you do not whine and opine about how bad the fire is and the merits of the fires origins.
Having said that, the rest of the story was entertaining in its way; so long as you can stomach a certain characters proclivity to blather on at times.
Only a fool would not consider the real and likely implications of an EMP Event

I LOVE THIS BEAUTIFUL STORY.
Revisado: 05-15-23
I discovered this Jewel of a tale in a used book store over two decades ago. It captivated then, and has captivated me each and every additional time I take my well-worn copy down from my storied bookshelves to experience once more. Escaping into Pete and Ariel’s Post-Apocalyptic World is simplicity itself; the author, Steven Boyett, has woven a story that flows and is absolutely timeless. Listening to the audio version has been a relaxing and inspirational experience; as I was able to share this with my beautiful Wife, who isn’t really into reading books. She is now hooked on ‘Ariel’ as well, by the way… Which forces the question: how could she not be?

Historia
Already cited on the floor of Congress and discussed in the corridors of the Pentagon as a book all Americans should read, One Second After is the story of a war scenario that could become all too terrifyingly real. Based upon a real weapon - the Electro Magnetic Pulse (EMP) - which may already be in the hands of our enemies, it is a truly realistic look at the awesome power of a weapon that can destroy the entire United States.

A must read, truly frightening because it could happen as you read this, or one second after that!
Revisado: 07-26-22
The title sums it up, one second after and everything is permanently changed for the U.S. of A. Forstchen does an excellent job of conveying the harsh reality of an EMP attack that completely disables U.S. society. Imagine nothing working, all of the devices and conveniences that spoil us gone and worthless. Everything with electrical circuitry fried and worth nothing more than garbage, no food and deliveries of same, no government control or societal norms, nothing that’s ‘normal’. A Nation collapses; lawlessness becomes the norm, feudal warlords making themselves kings and Cannibal Visigoths roaming the countryside at will. People die in the millions in the first few days alone, though they will be joined by millions more in the months to come.
All because selfish and shortsighted politicians refuse to harden our infrastructure and do something about this loaming problem…
This book will frighten you, and that’s actually a good thing; you should be scared!

My name's Griz. I've never been to school, I've never had friends, and in my whole life I've not met enough people to play a game of football. My parents told me how crowded the world used to be, before all the people went away. But we were never lonely on our remote island. We had each other and our dogs. Then the thief came.

Great story and brilliant storytelling.
Revisado: 10-11-21
This one surprised me, and that doesn't occur very often. The twists and turns of the story are not what I'm referring to; I was surprised by trying a new Author (At least to my experience...), and finding his work beyond capable and quite captivating! Time is precious, and I'm rather judicious on what I read and listen to. I'm very happy that I took a chance on this book; spending that time was worthwhile afterall. I must also add that hearing the story told by the storyteller himself made the experience all the better.
I will eagerly be looking forward to other works by C.A. Fletcher!

The President of the United States had reason to be grateful. Dirk Pitt had unearthed the greatest storehouse of knowledge in the ancient world: the Alexandria Library. The trail began in a lonely fjord in Greenland. It ended on the banks of the Rio Grande. In between Pitt had frustrated an assassination, rescued a hijacked liner, survived a deadly gun battle and halted an invasion. A gripping, action-packed story by a master of the craft.

Wow, what a story!
Revisado: 06-03-21
I've read this book, and all Cussler Classics, many-many times ove the last 20 some odd years; quite refreshing to hear it! I put these on in the background while I'm remodeling houses, and have to say that it makes the work glide by.
Cussler is a master at spinning tales of intrigue with historical what-ifs mixed in; Treasure, Sahara, Inca Gold, Deep Six... just incredible!
Narration was great too! I swear the guy sounded like Kelsey Grammar though.

Dean Koontz is a Master Storyteller!
Revisado: 07-04-20
This was my first time listening to this book (I've actually read it many times over the years...), and I enjoyed it immensely. Since the time when men gathered in their caves, around fires that beat back the darkness, an enemy been there hidden amongst us. A unseen plague through the ages, hidden in plain sight wearing the Visage of man and concealng the monsters within. Call this enemy 'Goblin', for it comes to bring pain, death, and destruction to all that is humankind.
Slim MacKenzie can see them, with his twilight eyes, he sees them and fights back as best he can.

Alan Dean Foster at his BEST!
Revisado: 06-18-20
Flinx and Pip are two of my favorite literary creations; I've been reading and enjoying their adventures since I was just a boy. This book is one of my favorites in the Flinx & Pip Sagas! Having previously read 'Midworld' (Another wonderful Foster book!); I was rather prepared for this tale...or at least thought I was. The tale unfolds and magic happens!
Foster is a MASTER STORYTELLER, and weaves his worlds and words seemingly without effort. I await each of his new books with great anticipation:l; he is simply one of my favorite writers.
Having read this book 3 times before, I decided to listen this time... I enjoyed every minute of it.
