Historia
Four people in a car, hoping to make Chicago by morning. One man driving, eyes on the road. Another man next to him, telling stories that don’t add up. A woman in the back, silent and worried. And next to her, a huge man with a broken nose, hitching a ride east to Virginia.

Looking for the next novel. We enjoy this series so much, good clean mystery. Will Sarah and Jack ever be more than friends? The author sure loves to tease us.

Historia
When a fragile peace breaks down and promptly devolves into a rapidly escalating shooting war between Pakistan and India, the U.S. must intervene. With only hours remaining before the conflict reaches a deadly point of no return, the White House must find a way to shut it down immediately or risk the likelihood of a new global war. A radical cleric has become the democratically elected president of Pakistan and uses a brutal incident in the Kashmir region as an opportunity to ignite war with India. The highly lethal conventional war spins out of control when Pakistan initiates a nuclear attack.

Too much detail
Revisado: 01-22-22
We like the concept and the conservative values of the writer. It is supposed to be about Andreas but he is less than 30% of the story. Wish this series had an abridged version. We don't need to know every detail about the enemy, but then the book would be less than half the number of words. Voluminous with unnecessary information.

Historia
It's 1949. When war veteran Aloysius Archer is released from Carderock Prison, he is sent to Poca City on parole with a short list of dos and a much longer list of don'ts: do report regularly to his parole officer, don't go to bars, certainly don't drink alcohol, do get a job - and don't ever associate with loose women. The small town quickly proves more complicated and dangerous than Archer's years serving in the war or his time in jail.

Refreshing....
Revisado: 04-21-21
Enjoyed this historical fiction whodunit very much. Just finished the last Atlee book before this one, so this was a great cleansing of many problems with the former. Baldacci doesn't have to know technology in historical work. On the other hand, there were a lot of miracles that saved Archer's butt. Ah yes, creative license is the name of the game. In any case, we are looking forward to listening to Book 2 when it gets recorded.

What have you done?
Revisado: 10-22-20
Didn't read the reviews - don't need to - this series is so good. Should have since the first reviewer shown clearly says reader is not George. I keep checking back to see if I made a mistake about who is said to be the reader for this 2-in-1 edition. It says George Guidall, but it is NOT George Guidall. What a mess this NOT George Guidall makes of these stories. Endured the first one in hopes George would be back on the second one. Nope, it is not George on the second one either. Must return, order the single version of The Cat Who Tailed the Thief...hopefully the real George will be there. Audible, you need to fix this problem of false advertising!

What happened to Gideon Oliver?
Revisado: 06-04-20
Should have stopped with Book 17! It's like a very bad ghost writer wrote this last book in the Gideon Oliver series. Then the narrator sounds like a 25 year old for Gideon's voice. What is that??? The book takes place in 2011, Gideon was in his mid 30's in 1982 in book 1 - do the math; conservatively he would be in his 60's! Also, there is so much wrong with the story - tolerated it a little over half way thru and found too much trivial information; not enough Gideon or his analysis, really painful listening. Our recommendation is don't bother - stop at book 17. Returned it....

Historia
When anthropology professor Gideon Oliver is offered a teaching fellowship at US military bases in Germany, Sicily, Spain, and Holland, he wastes no time accepting. On his first night, he is forced to fend off two desperate, black-clad men who have invaded his Heidelberg hotel room with intent to kill. And then there are a few trivial details that the recruiting agency forgot to mention - such as the fact that the two previous holders of the fellowship both met with mysterious ends.

Good OLD read...
Revisado: 02-14-20
Since the book was written in 1982 it has some unacceptable derogatory racial comments from an NSA manager. Could have been edited out since audiobook was recorded in 2019. Slow moving compared to present day stories...but then it was the 80's wasn't it? Good story and willing to listen to book 2 in the series.

Historia
When a hiker falls from a cliff edge while walking the Cotswolds Way, it seems like no accident. The more Jack and Sarah investigate the walkers on the trail that day, the more likely it seems that danger is still afoot. Is there a potential killer in this Cherringham tour group? And when will he or she strike again? Set in the sleepy English village of Cherringham, the detective series brings together an unlikely sleuthing duo: English web designer Sarah and American ex-cop Jack. Thrilling and deadly - but with a spot of tea - it's like Rosamunde Pilcher meets Inspector Barnaby.

Good story, tedious detail
Revisado: 01-04-20
Wish there was an abridged version. Hearing every thought each character was thinking got very old. Also, way too much information about the surroundings. No matter how many times we'd been there we got to hear about it again. Lots of repetition - some probably love this attribute...we just advanced it to get to the point. Good story, lots of potential candidates for who did it.
