Historia
Photographer Isla Wilson is thrilled she's landed her dream job, but the clients who hired her are getting stranger by the day. It sounded so perfect—a month's assignment at the lush Scottish Highlands property of architect Alban McGregor, and his wife, Jessica. But in the woods, there's a playhouse with a chilling history. Two years ago, the McGregors' daughter Elodie was abducted and then died in that playhouse. The townspeople insist her abductor had to be a stranger in their town. Alban refuses to knock the playhouse down, even keeping a picture of it on his wall.

Engaging and Unexpected
Revisado: 04-28-23
This first-person story is engaging, well written, and well paced, with some unexpected plot twists. The narration was excellent, with distinct and credible voices for each character.
This was a worthwhile listen.

Historia
There’s only so much room on the Island, only so much blood, and Manhattan’s Vampyre Clans aren’t interested in sharing. So when the Vyrus-infected dregs of New York’s outer boroughs start creeping across the bridges, the Clans want to know why. Bad luck for PI Joe Pitt. Joe used to be a Rogue, work off his own dime, pick his own gigs, but tight times and a terminally ill girlfriend pushed him to the renegade Society Clan. Now he has all the cash and blood he needs, but at a steep price.

Joe Pitt crosses a bridge
Revisado: 07-24-12
I find myself addicted to the Joe Pitt stories, Huston's vibrant and gritty characters, and Brick's flawless vocal delivery. That said, I must admit that this is my least favorite book in the series. There is a lot of talk and political positioning by characters other than Joe Pitt. While I am sure Half the Blood of Brooklyn could stand alone, it rather feels like a bridge to get from one story arc to another. Like me, existing Joe Pitt fans will most likely enjoy this story. However, if I could recommend only one book in this series, it would not be this book, but rather Already Dead.

Historia
Joe Pitt's life sucks. He hasn't had a case or a job in God knows how long, and his stashes are running on empty. What stashes? The only ones that count to a guy like Joe: blood and money. The money he uses to buy blood; the blood he drinks. Hey, it's that or your neck, buddy.

Another Wild Ride with Joe Pitt
Revisado: 07-24-12
No Dominion is another wild ride with reluctant hero Joe Pitt. It is darker than the first, with a lot of action, but no less brilliant and intense. Joe Pitt is a one-of-a-kind original. Huston's gritty style has me hooked, and Brick's narraton has me craving more. I highly recommend this audiobook.

Historia
From the Battery to the Bronx, Manhattan is crawling with Vampyres. Joe Pitt is one of them, and he's not happy about it. Yeah, he gets to be tough as nails and hard to kill. But spending his nights trying to score a pint of blood to feed the Vyrus that's eating at him isn't his idea of a good time.

Already Dead - Hooked on Pitt!
Revisado: 07-24-12
This is an excellent story! Joe Pitt is a streetwise New Yorker, a vampyre, and a guy trying to hold on to his identity and independence despite coersive power plays by Manhattan's competing vamyire factions. But don't be fooled. This is no formula vampire story. Author Charlie Huston artfully gives us a glimpse into the sout of Joe Pitt, NYC, and the human condition, served up in a gritty noire style. Pitt is a credible, well-crafted character, as are the people in his world, both living and dead. Narrator Scott Brick hits the New York dialects and social styles spot on, to the point where I found myself saying, "Hey, I know that guy!" - more than once, Forget blood, I am addicted to Pitt. Between Huston's brilliant writing, and Brick's amazing portrayals, Already Dead is an vivid listen and an incredible ride.
