Historia
In the early hours of a summer morning, a young woman steps into the path of an oncoming bus. A tragic accident? Or suicide? At the center of this puzzle is Adrian Wolfe, a successful architect and grief-stricken widower, who, a year after his third wife's death, begins to investigate the cause. As Adrian looks back on their brief but seemingly happy marriage, disturbing secrets begin to surface. The divorces from his two previous wives had been amicable, or so it seemed; his children, all five of them, were resilient as ever, or so he thought.

Intriguing story
Revisado: 03-29-25
I usually listen to books with female narrators, so I wasn't sure about this one. However, the narrators voice "just fit." It was wonderful! The characters were full of life and they were very real. The story was interesting and never boring.

Revisado: 11-19-24
Lisa Jewel is an amazing author! Her stories are exciting and full of details that do not make her stories boring. If I was reading, I would say, "Can't put it down!" but I guess I can say, 'Can't stop listening!" Characters are interesting and well layered. The narration is outstanding!

Historia
My husband and I are fighting for our lives in hospital after a terrible car accident. But despite my pain, all I can think about is what our families will find behind our front door. The scarf that has been all over the news, belonging to a dead young woman with honey-coloured hair. I have to speak to the police before my husband can. I’m drifting in and out of consciousness, but when I hear my wife talking to the police, accusing me of the murder of an innocent woman, a cold fear grips me. I know I’ve got a temper.

Historia
The doorbell rings, just days after my beloved husband’s sudden death. I don’t recognise the woman on our doorstep, with her blonde highlights, a diamond bracelet identical to my own and a bouncing baby boy in her arms. As I show her inside, I notice her eyes grow wide as she takes in our spacious hallway, and the big squashy sofas that we all used to pile on. She glances at the silver-framed family photos and my little daughter hiding behind my skirts. She looks at me, her blue eyes serious. ‘I’m sorry’ she says. ‘I am your husband’s girlfriend. And this is his son.'

This had a lot of twists, and he never knew what was going to happen. The narration was great, lots of different characters I could imagine in my head. Couldn't stop listening until the end! Highly recommend, if you like little mystery stories.

Relatable to me.
Revisado: 08-22-24
This is the end of the books. I liked it the best out of all three. Perhaps it ties the story of the Sand Queens altogether or perhaps it had a good solid storyline. Sophia and Wes are relatable to my life. Medical field, single mom, all the ins and outs of domestic violence and sadly, being a widow. The narration was much better than the 2nd book, eventhough I know it was the same performer. It just seemed better and dialogue was more diverse.

Proud to be a Nurse!
Revisado: 06-09-24
I loved this! The history mixed in was beautifully done. I didn't like the virtual voice narration because it missed pronounced some words. For example, the word Polish. Because I knew the story was talking about someone speaking the Polish language, I could follow the story but the virtual voice would pronounce "polish" as in nail polish. The natural deflection and tones were missing. However, the "voice" was pleasant. The details in the story were vibrant and I could "see" what the author wanted to convey. This series makes me want to return to visit Ellis Island and Lady Liberty because now I can appreciate it even more!

Rock and roll in the BC (Before Cooper) era was a tamer, milder world. In Who I Really Am, Cooper’s latest addition to Audible’s Words + Music series, we learn how the boa-wearing (not the feathered kind) maestro arrived at a show and sound - let’s call it AC for After Cooper - that has entertained millions of kids while terrifying parents in equal measure. Cooper drew inspiration from Saturday matinee horror movies, applied a "no such thing as too much" attitude, and hitched it to a kick-ass rock and roll band.
