If you enjoy history or just a good story this is the book to read. Drama, humor, excitement, emotional ups and downs this book has it all. It is a true rendition of WWII from a person who lived it. Entertaining, informative and just wonderful to listen to. You really get to know the characters that Audie writes about as well as Audie himself. I would find myself picturing the characters, how they looked, how they would dress etc. from the great story telling.
The narrator, Tom Parker, well done. I first heard him narrate Mark Twain stories and to me he sounds exactly how I have always pictured Twain to sound. So, it was a little difficult to transfer him into another character but after the first chapter he transformed into Audie and brought the story to life. I enjoy his voice, the way he reads and how he interprets each character and brings them to life as well. Well done!

Beautifully written book

This book is beautifully written and the narrator makes me believe that she is the author herself. The land of Africa and the people come to life and you are transported to another continent and to another time. You really feel the authors emotions through her writing and trough the narrators voice. This is a classic to be treasured and enjoyed for generations.

Good information and seems to be pretty well written. The performance; well now if I was to take to listenin to Mary Poppins then this orator would be exceptional. But since I was listening to a story of an American Legend of the west I was expecting and would have preferred a hardened, raspy American accent. This voice distracted and to be honest, kind of ruined the story for me.

Enjoyed the performance. very well done. I really liked the plot of this story. Unique, I haven't heard anything like it before. only reason I didn't give it a complete give stars is that I found it a little hard to follow in parts. But don't let that deter you from this book it is well worth enjoying.

I read this book back in Junior high and enjoyed it then. Some thirty plus years later I listened to it and wept openly. It is a great book and the performance is exceptional. A must read ( listen) book for EVERY generation. May we never forget the true cost of war.

Narrator was excellent... as always. He really brings this book to life as he does all his readings. Story was good but not his best. Don't get me wrong, very good book. I've just personally enjoyed previous ones better. I can't really put a finger on why I have enjoyed others better but I have.
