She thought she'd perfected in the many years among the Magoi and the idol worshipers, pretending with all the others in King Nebuchadnezzar's court. Now, as Daniel's wife and a septuagenarian matriarch, Belili thinks she's safe and that she can live out her days in Babylon without fear - until the night Daniel is escorted to Belshazzar's palace to interpret mysterious handwriting on a wall.

I have heard the story of Daniel all my life, but after listening to this book I feel like I really know him and understand his great faithfulness to our Lord. Looking forward to sitting down with him and Abigail for a long visit in eternity.

Doing Life Well!
Revisado: 11-14-18
While I believe in God and the gift of everlasting life with Him. I also know that hell is a very real place for those who reject his gift. I first thought I thought it might just be a big joke about eternity. However it was a very thoughtful book and inspired me to make more of an effort to enjoy and appreciate every moment I have with those I love. It was insightful of them not to delve into eternity and risk losing a whole segment of society. I enjoyed the fact that it had few curse words and no sexual innuendos. Pleasant winter afternoon baking and listening to the wonderful little story. Thank you Audible for this “free” book!

Challenge to Stand Firm in Your Faith
Revisado: 05-03-17
What did you love best about God's Double Agent?
This was a book so compelling I didn't want to stop listening. It was an eye opener to me of how much courage it takes to be a Christian in China. I told my husband "I feel like an over indulged American". The Sunday after finishing the book I felt so blessed to freely go to my church and worship freely. Bob Fu does an amazing job capturing you attention and keeping your interest for the entire book.
What other book might you compare God's Double Agent to and why?
Safely Home, by Randy Alcorn. It also addressed the persecution of Christians in China. Loved, Loved this book, Narration is amazing.

I Didn't Want This to End
Revisado: 01-30-17
If you could sum up Ordinary Grace in three words, what would they be?
Charming, tender, memorable
What did you like best about this story?
It reminded me of the years of my childhood. Very given to detail, to the point I could picture the images in my mind.
What about Rich Orlow’s performance did you like?
He didn't draw attention to himself. I never thought he is really good or he is really bad ... He performed so well, I was able to concentrate completely on the story, and not even think about the deliverer.
If you could take any character from Ordinary Grace out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Gus; he was such a down to earth man, humble, and wise, thoughtful. When he was wrong he was man enough to admit it and apologize.
Any additional comments?
Great book. Being raised in a preacher's home myself, I found it quite refreshing to hear how other families managed the various situations that only pastor's kids would know.

Touching Story
Revisado: 05-27-16
What did you love best about The Penny?
This is a touching story of hope for those who have suffered abuse. The subject is gently and delicately handled without getting graphic; which I appreciate. I have never personally suffered abuse, but because of this story I hope I can help those who have.
What was one of the most memorable moments of The Penny?
The moment Ms. Shaw took off her gloves for the first time and revealed her hands.
What about Emily Janice Card’s performance did you like?
She is very fluid and the best thing I think you can say about her performance is she didn't take away from the story. To tell the truth she did such a good job; I didn't even think about her performance. Sometimes the readers do such a poor job that is all I think about. I will look forward to hearing more of her work.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Yes, but I restrained myself. I listen to my books when I am in the bathtub soaking each night .... it is my own private sanctuary and I look forward to it all day. Always calms me and winds me down for sleep. ( I told my husband and family... unless Jesus calls, I am unavailable for that hour) LOL
Any additional comments?
This is a good listen and I think most young adult women and up would enjoy.

Twist and Turns
Revisado: 11-15-15
Where does Deception rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Not at the top but very close to one of my favorites.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Clarence, he just seems like the kind of guy you could trust that if you told him in confidence he would never share.
What about Roger Mueller’s performance did you like?
Did such a good job transitioning from various characters voices that I didn't even think about it as it was happening, it was just like multiple people were reading.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I think when the dog "Mulch" was drugged, I was relieved that he hadn't been killed.
Any additional comments?
You can count on Randy Alcorn to keep things clean and ALWAYS point you to God. I LOVE THAT! I feel more excited for heaven with each of his books I listen to.

Life Changing
Revisado: 08-19-15
I have always struggled with my prayer life. I so want to fellowship with God and have on many occasions. However I felt as if I was doing it all wrong and God was shaking His head as I prayed. As I read this book it was if a bird was freed from its cage. My heart feels free and bold to bring God into my battlefield of life, my hang ups, my struggles, my blessings, my disappointments ... He wants to hear it all and will answer in ways that benefit me most. Sometimes that means telling me no, the way I respond to His no is giving me the opportunity to be molded into someone who resembles Him. I love it!

Too much fluff
Revisado: 02-23-15
This is my second read by Klassen, but only because I wanted to see if my first choice was a fluke. After reading reviews stating this was her best book ever, I gave it a try. I really prefer time period novels which tell at least some of the history of the time period. History of the country, history of the church... Something that makes me feel as if I know more than when I started reading. Her writing seems to lack Spiritual depth. Unfortunately this is not strike three you are out, there will not be a third opportunity with this reader.

Historia
Despite her spoiled upbringing, 20-year-old Lenore Fulcher isn't pretentious. She simply believes a marriage should be built on true love. Her father, however, thinks she's wasted enough time searching for the perfect husband. He wants to marry her off to one of his business partners - who is 17 years her senior - an idea that is out of the question for Lenore.

Disappointing
Revisado: 02-12-15
What would have made Steadfast Heart better?
I would give the story some believable challenges. Maybe even some that don't turn out "happily ever after" .... It is just too unbelievable that two people with huge wealth fall in love at first sight, have a perfect wedding with no expenses spared and also have a heart for the poor. Just seemed very hypocritical .....
What do you think your next listen will be?
I am not sure, I am so disheartened by this one that I may take a break for awhile.
What didn’t you like about Alyssa Bresnahan’s performance?
I didn't care for the way she tried to sound like the men's voices ...
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
She did weave in truths of God, but they seemed forced. I can't explain it exactly it just didn't flow.
Any additional comments?
I found myself thinking that some of the situations would really turn into situations similar to what normal people face .... But no these were rich privileged people. I kept thinking to myself ... "REALLY?" Must be nice, but very little I could relate to.
