Historia
A sinister cabal of corrupt law enforcement personnel, intelligence agents, and military officials at the highest levels of government plotted to overthrow a president. Even after they failed, they continue to secretly pull the levers of power without any accountability to the American people. This isn’t the synopsis of a fictional spy thriller. This is what is actually happening in the United States government.

Well written but quite partisan
Revisado: 12-12-24
This book discusses how legal overreach is used by the feds to punish non conservatives. The idea is quite true and real but is not new; with over 200 years of legal precedent, the federal government can find something to squeeze an individual in court. The book is draped with hyperbole about how great and honest Trump is, which he is not.; see trump properties charging secret service 5x the regular rate for accommodations. The book also paints the author as a very influential figure in Trump’s first White House, if true is a remarkable accomplishment for the young man. I wish Kash the best as FBI director, I want to see him face wrongdoers in both the left and the right.

Historia
A family rift is one of the most traumatic experiences a person can face. It can have a profound effect on virtually every aspect of life, causing depression, relationship problems, and even physical illness. Healing From Family Rifts offers hope to those coping with a split in their families. Family therapist Mark Sichel addresses the pain and shame connected with family rifts and offers a way through the crisis and on toward healing. Uniquely, Sichel does not assume that every rift will or even should be mended. Instead, he offers ways to recover from any outcome.

This author's explanation on how families create roles within themselves (either consciously or not) is worth very eye opening. It was a great book..

Historia
To outsiders, Jessica Berger Gross's childhood - growing up in a "nice" Jewish family in middle class Long Island - seemed as wholesomely American as any other. But behind closed doors, Jessica suffered years of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of her father, whose mood would veer unexpectedly from loving to violent. At the age of 28, still reeling from the trauma but emotionally dependent on her dysfunctional family, Jessica made the anguished decision to cut ties with them entirely.

Sincere Story
Revisado: 06-30-19
I share traits from this story in my own life. This a decent book, my main takeaway if the conflict between how the ‘model’ of our relationships in the nuclear family to what they actually are. Am glad the author managed to marry, have children and inch closer to what a family ought to be. Am still waiting for that chance.

Historia
The international monetary system has collapsed three times in the past hundred years, in 1914, 1939, and 1971. Each collapse was followed by a period of tumult: War, civil unrest, or significant damage to the stability of the global economy. Now James Rickards, the acclaimed author of Currency Wars, shows why another collapse is rapidly approaching - and why this time, nothing less than the institution of money itself is at risk.

Historia
Since 2014, international monetary agencies have been issuing warnings to a small group of finance ministers, banks, and private equity funds: The US government's cowardly choices not to prosecute J.P. Morgan and its ilk and to bloat the economy with a $4 trillion injection of easy credit are driving us headlong toward a cliff. As Rickards shows in this frightening, meticulously researched book, governments around the world have no compunction about conspiring against their citizens.

Road to Ruin- worst case scenario
Revisado: 06-02-19
The author economic acumen gives him great authority to describe the ‘ worlds financial swamp’. He describes why the current relationship between markets/gold standard and world debt bubble is not sustainable. He also describes how elites will switch their ‘ go to currency’ in the next crisis. I disagree with the author’s suspicions of governmental intervention in the market such as ‘obamacare’. I don’t consider it racism; pre-existing conditions and the depleting coverage by private employers were leading to poor care and life crippling conditions for many Americans. On a different topic, the author describes how unregulated derivatives and corporate debt will cause the next doom. He is 100% right.

Humillity with a silver spoon
Revisado: 06-04-18
The book details how the author found contentement by engaging in a long term value startegy; he didnt pursue greed or the fear of missing out in his investments. It also details how he found value in the personal relationships he held while investing that in the cash itself. However, I do find the author's story extremely dissapointing; He holds degrees from Oxford and Harvard but as he struggled to find a footing in the financial industry, his father gave him 1 million dollars . Is very hard to find someone who would fail under those circumstances. If you dont have anyone to lend you 1 million dollars, this book is as useful as having a paddle in the middle of the Sahara desert.

Historia
In this groundbreaking history of the modern American metropolis, Richard Rothstein explodes the myth that America's cities came to be racially divided through de facto segregation - that is, through individual prejudices, income differences, or the actions of private institutions like banks and real estate agencies. Rather, he incontrovertibly makes clear that it was de jure segregation - the laws and policy decisions passed by local, state, and federal governments - that actually promoted the discriminatory patterns that continue to this day.

This is a raw tale of disfranchisement
Revisado: 04-13-18
Where does The Color of Law rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The book is one of my favorites; It describes how federal, state and local authorities dismissed the black and brown Americans out of grants for housing, jobs and economic empowerment. It is in itself the answer to the common thought that. Caucasian Americans left the inner cities due to black crime. The book explains the economic incentives given to Caucasians to make new lives in suburbia. However, at the same time kept brown and black folks away from making a living in those areas purely because of their skin color.
What did you like best about this story?
The RAW description of the racism. If you are a man or woman of color, this book will turn your stomach in disgust. It will make you rationalize how alike are the action of those who segregated and endangered the lives of Americans due to their skin color to the present ignorance of white america to the black/brown struggle.
What does Adam Grupper bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
His tone of voice gives it a revisionist tone.
If you could give The Color of Law a new subtitle, what would it be?
Can black and brown folks really trust white Americans?
