Liane Moriarty never fails to deliver!! This is a Master class in character development. You can’t help but care about all of them. The premise is interesting and unique. Perfectly woven into the story with tears and laughter. A very, very satisfying listen. Narrators are top notch. Bravo!!

Historia
Amber Patterson Parrish has come a long way from being an invisible wallflower. Her hard work and immaculate planning have paid off now that she’s a prominent socialite, but that doesn’t mean there haven’t been bumps along the way. Less than a year since her husband Jackson’s tax-evasion scandal, Amber is still at the top of the Bishops Harbor community pecking order, free to do as she wishes while Jackson sits in prison. But that freedom is quickly coming to an end. With Jackson getting released from prison, Amber’s time—and money—is vanishing.

Dreadful
Revisado: 09-30-24
A soapy story with amateur dialogue. The author must think she has to spell everything out. Characters are one dimensional. No one to root for. The villains are despicable and the heroine is stupid. Can’t care about any of them. Had to stop listening. Couldn’t bother to wait for the plot to play out.

Historia
Simon and Vicky couldn’t seem more normal: a wealthy Chicago couple, he a respected law professor, she an advocate for domestic violence victims. A stable, if unexciting marriage. But one thing’s for sure: absolutely nothing is what it seems. The pair are far from normal, and one of them just may be a killer. When the body of a beautiful socialite is found hanging in a mansion in a nearby suburb, Simon and Vicky’s secrets begin to unravel. A secret whirlwind affair. A twenty-million-dollar trust fund about to come due.

It did drag a bit but once the story got going it was worth the wait. The twists and turns were unexpected. I was rooting for the main characters who were flawed people to say the least.

Historia
The teenagers get their kicks telling ghost stories in the old graveyard. The parents trust their kids will arrive home safe from school. Everyone knows everyone. Curtains rarely twitch. Front doors are left unlocked. But Diana Brewer isn’t lying safely in her bed where she belongs. Instead she lies in a hayfield, circled by vultures, discovered by a local farmer. How quickly a girl becomes a ghost. How quickly a town of friendly, familiar faces becomes a town of suspects, a place of fear and paranoia.

If you’re going to give us a twist
Revisado: 09-10-24
Ok. Lots of suspects in this one. Who could the murderer be?? The boyfriend, teacher, or creepy stalker? Everyone has a motive except the real killer. Then tell us the killer has a dark side you never hinted at beforehand. The author could have just as easily made the mailman the killer. Waste of time and credit.

Awful awful awful
Revisado: 08-26-24
The reviews are correct. This was the worst narration I have ever heard. Maybe this narrator could do children’s books. Frieda McFadden‘s writing is uninspired and the story sophomoric. I like twists and turns as much as the next person but a twist that comes out of nowhere was a disappointment to say the least. Now add in a horrific narration and this was a book not worth a credit or your time.

Historia
Over two grim nights in Los Angeles, the young followers of Charles Manson murdered seven people, including the actress Sharon Tate, then eight months pregnant. With no mercy and seemingly no motive, the Manson Family followed their leader's every order. Twenty years ago, when journalist Tom O'Neill was reporting a magazine piece about the murders, he worried there was nothing new to say. Then he unearthed shocking evidence of a cover-up behind the "official" story, including police carelessness, legal misconduct, and potential surveillance by intelligence agents.

TEDIOUS
Revisado: 08-17-24
A very long book assembled over 20 years with not much to show for the effort. Maybe the murders were a drug deal gone wrong or maybe a mind control experiment by the CIA. Who knows. All we know is that the author goes to great lengths to discredit Bugliosi and the LA police with partial information and speculation. Maybe he’s right maybe not but without complete records or full statements from those left it amounts to a big waste of his time and frankly mine as well.

So much promise
Revisado: 07-10-24
An interesting idea that comes to nothing. I used to like Imogene Church but here almost every sentence ends with a shaky question mark. It’s annoying to the point where I found myself saying get on with it for gods sake. There are so many better ways to wrap this story up but the author took a boring route that left me feeling I had wasted my time and credit.

Time slips. Doomsday scenarios. Killer butterflies. C. J. Tudor's novels are widely acclaimed for their dark, twisty suspense plots, but with A Sliver of Darkness, she pulls us even further into her dizzying imagination. Riveting, macabre, and explosively original, A Sliver of Darkness is C. J. Tudor at her most wicked and uninhibited.

I trying to finish this but it’s not easy
Revisado: 04-21-24
I admit I haven’t finished this book yet but geez what a collection of stale stories. Some lousy Stephen King, Twilight Zone and Creepshow style stories neither scary nor clever. After The Chalk Man her novels just don’t measure up. Too bad. No longer an author I will follow.

Historia
After Lucy is found wandering the streets, covered in her best friend Savvy’s blood, everyone thinks she is a murderer. Lucy and Savvy were the golden girls of their small Texas town: pretty, smart, and enviable. Lucy married a dream guy with a big ring and an even bigger new home. Savvy was the social butterfly loved by all, and if you believe the rumors, especially popular with the men in town. It’s been years since that horrible night, a night Lucy can’t remember anything about, and she has since moved to LA and started a new life.

No surprises here. Characters are kind of one dimensional. This one wasn’t bad enough to return it, but certainly not good enough to recommend it
