Good with Flaws
Revisado: 03-25-25
I like the series overall, but this story had too many jokes, quips, and one liners. They really aren't necessary for the story to be enjoyed. Narrator was good as always.

Only Murders in Gotham, the smash hit streaming show, is famous for filming in authentic New York City locations and using real New Yorkers as extras. For their latest episode, they've chosen to spotlight the century-old Village Blend and its quirky crew of baristas. But when the film crew's week of shooting delivers an actual shooting, coffeehouse manager and master roaster Clare Cosi and her staff find themselves at the scene of a true crime.

Mostly Enjoyable
Revisado: 01-28-24
This series is pretty entertaining for the most part with a few exceptions. At book 20, I guess you would see Mike and Claire be married by now? It isn't like it's either of their first relationships. I know these are cozy mysteries, but when you have a coffee shop barista investigating things the police are supposed to be, it just seems a bit far fetched by now. It isn't her job to investigate, and she goes right by the police in some instances. That just doesn't make a lot of sense. Once again, I know it's fiction and a cozy mystery but at the same time, put a little common sense in the story. Otherwise, entertaining stories to take your mind off of real life for awhile.

Death for this Story
Revisado: 01-24-24
Narrator was good. The story was long and filled with weird stuff. Marino complains a lot, an old character has been reintroduced that we all thought dead and what is up with the whole Bigfoot thing?! Just doesn't make sense. No clear ending to the story so obviously to be continued. I may be done with this series. Too bad because it used to be really good.

Grown up Man-Child
Revisado: 11-24-23
I agree with other reviewers about this story. This is an almost 40 year old man who does nothing but whine and moan about the past. Over 12 hours of it... just don't think it's going to be one I can finish. Grow up, deal with the past, move forward with your life for goodness' sakes.

A Challenge
Revisado: 12-23-22
I have enjoyed listening to most of the stories in this series. The last installment as well as this one though have not gone over as well. I can't figure out why an author needs to muddy up the story with soft porn love scenes. It's really not necessary. The plot and all of the characters are more than enough to fill the listeners' and readers' minds. I'm all for having midlife love but seriously, there's just too much explicit detail. Give the reader some credit to use their own imagination for a love scene. It just turns the storyline into something tacky and tawdry. Narration was good.

Newly installed at All Souls Lutheran, Mallory “Pastor Pete” Peterson soon realizes that her church isn’t merely going through turbulent waters, but is a sinking ship. With the help of five loyal members of the Naomi Circle, the young, bold minister brainstorms fundraising ideas. They all agree that the usual recipe book won’t add much to the parish coffers, but maybe one with all the ingredients on how to heat up relationships rather than casseroles will…

Some people greet the day with open arms. Sheriff Sunshine Vicram would rather give it a hearty shove and get back into bed, because there’s just too much going on right now. There’s a series of women going missing, and Sunny feels powerless to stop it. There’s her persistent and awesomely-rebellious daughter Auri, who’s out to singlehandedly become Del Sol’s youngest and fiercest investigator. And then there’s drama with Levi Ravinder—the guy she’s loved and lusted after for years. The guy who might just be her one and only.

Also A little Disappointed
Revisado: 12-09-22
I love Darynda Jones' books. I was really looking forward to this last installment of the trilogy. I am a bit on the disappointed side, like another reviewer. This story felt disjointed. There were many things going on within the actual plot, ant it got too mixed up. There was a lot of sarcasm and quotes included as well. Some of the quips are fine but when they are thrown in as much as this, it does get kind of tiring. I know that most of Jones's books are like this and most of the time, it's ok but there was just too much this go around. It felt like a young adult novel at times with domestic violence thrown in and also, a school outing shooting. Not in the best taste in these times. There were a couple of romance scenes between the adults which is fine although the language could've been cleaned up. I mean if you're going to have all the other young adult stuff thrown in, keep it clean throughout, right? It's great there was a happy ending, but the listener does not need to hear how wonderful, handsome, toe curling the leading man is every other sentence. We get the point. Same with the Cruise young adult character- way too much. LOVE, love, love Lorelei King!!! She's one of the brightest parts of listening to the stories.

Could've Been Better
Revisado: 10-07-22
Male narrator wonderful, female not so much. The story itself without the stupid romance stuff was fine. When the romance is thrown in with electricity, looks, blah blah blah, the story gets muddled. The main female character is supposed to be a smart psychologist, but that just isn't the case. She's whiny, panic-y, a too stupid too live character. Who wears a skirt and blouse to hike a trail?! NO ONE! Who takes a patient home and not to a hospital after being lost for 4 days?! NO ONE! I wouldn't have wasted a credit on this book so it's a good thing it was included in Kindle Unlimited.

Historia
This is Reaper speaking. So begins an anonymous letter published in a Utah newspaper after a young couple is viciously murdered. Tooele County sheriff Elizabeth Gray leads the investigation into the double homicide, which is eerily reminiscent of a string of brutal killings years ago. When the letter leads detectives to yet another body, Gray calls on an old friend for help.

Too Much
Revisado: 07-16-22
I usually enjoy this author's stories. This one though, not so much. It was far too descriptive to be an enjoyable listen. I did not enjoy his use of animal cruelty in the storyline either. (The killer's mother's cat). I understand that is a sign of disturbance in a sociopath, but the listener doesn't need to hear such descriptive details of such cruelty. The development of the main characters was interesting, and the narrator was very good. I hope the next story in the series is a bit toned down. Methos has a great grasp of words, this one was just a bit too disturbing.

Whiny
Revisado: 07-01-22
I normally don't mind Bybee's stories but the last few have just been an absolute no. Either the characters are too young- under 30 or like this one, just plain whiny, selfish and self involved. I'm only on chapter 3 and don't think I'll be able to finish. The main character, Brooke is thoughtless and whiny. About everything. Like it's her father's fault he had a stroke or bowel obstruction. She complained about cleaning, taking care of him, etc. It's just thoughtless and disrespectful to those people who really do care for their older or ill parents. I'm a little surprised Bybee would write a character like that. The narrator wasn't the best pick, but she did make a good effort. Given the story line not being all that great, I'm sure she tried her best.
