Historia
Neala O’Riordan is no stranger to the sweet and spicy things in life although that’s more to do with running a highly acclaimed bakery in Kilkenny than because of having any semblance of a dating life. In lieu of romantic entanglements, Neala instead pours her love and attention into her rapidly growing business and the in-demand sweets she concocts. When a distraught man storms into her bakery one morning, Neala’s life is turned upside down.

A Predictably Sweet Ending
Revisado: 05-17-24
I struggled to finish this series, but once I commit to something I am compelled to see it through. The last two books were better than the first two, so there was some reward, but they were very predictable. None of the battles felt fully fleshed out and the continuous capturing of the group while the seeker battles alone grew weary. The heroines and their protectors were at least more likable in the last two books. I really struggle with this narrator. Her male voices lean towards whiny and dull. Overall, for a lazy listen the series was ok.

Historia
Sasha Flanagan lives her life by the sword–quite literally. As a collector and dealer of antique blades and an expert swordswoman, she’s spent much of her life single-mindedly pursuing her goal to own one of the most elite weaponry galleries in the world. Murdering fae popping out of dark alleys are certainly not part of her carefully designed life plans.

Just mediocre storytelling
Revisado: 04-22-24
When I start a series, I like to finish it. But I was not a fan of the first book and I liked this one even less. I'm not sure that I'm inclined to spend the time listening to the next book. The narrator of this series is hard to listen to, especially with male voices.

Historia
Clare MacBride has her life in exactly the order she wants it. In a year, she’ll have finished her geology dissertation, though she’s no closer to figuring out the answer to one question that plagues her: Why does she feel stones pulse with energy? A centuries-old curse, a mysterious faction of protectors, and a mythological godstone all sound like Old World fairy tale nonsense to Clare. It only takes one rainy evening with a silver-eyed fae and a handsome stranger promising protection to rock her world forever.

Familiar storyline, no surprises
Revisado: 04-13-24
The story was ok...a good light listen if not wanting anything deep. It was pretty predictable and the "battles" lacked intensity. It was similar to an Irish trilogy by Nora Roberts but not as good. I am not a fan of the narrator. Her male voices make them sound whiny and leans towards "surfer dude." She voiced an actual surfer in another book by Dean Koontz and even that was hard to listen to. Her portrayal of the characters made it difficult to connect. Bianca was the only character I felt any connection to...goofy fun, loyal friend. This is a good "beach book" for something light.

An interesting view of the fragility of life.
Revisado: 01-22-24
No one is promised tomorrow...unless you have a long string. This is a thought provoking plunge into life and death and how to best live the life in between. I wanted resolution on where the boxes came from, but the unknowing is akin to not really knowing what lies on the other side of mortality. the characters were well developed and I thoroughly enjoyed each of their stories... long or short.

Not my favorite Koontz
Revisado: 01-06-24
The stories were interesting enough to keep me listening, but didn't have the depth of character I'm used to from Koontz. The narration was difficult to listen to with an annoying inflection at the end of most sentences. I might have enjoyed it more had I read it rather than listened.

The story of The Boy in the Striped Pajamas is very difficult to describe. Usually we give some information about the audiobook, but in this case we think that would spoil the listening. We think it's important that you start to listen without knowing what it is about.

Bruno's innocent complacency shines light on how atrocities continue to exist in our world. We often choose not to see, but also we may not see what we don't know to look for.

Your modesty about lavish experiences is sweet... but I think most of your audience enjoys hearing your authentic stories and anyone who would begrudge you living your best life, would likely criticize most anything you would share. ❤️

There is a lot packed into this short story. Character building at lightning speed, but very effectively. Ended up listening again because it was short and added layers with knowledge of the whole story. Great little listen...both times!

Historia
In 2016, the morning after Valentine's Day, Luke's son passed away from breathing issues complicated by congenital birth defects. He was 21 months old. And his name was Finnegan. This kind of loss is terrifyingly huge and scary, but the love and light in this story far outweigh the tragedy. Through comic-book metaphors, Shakespeare references, and lilting Irish brogues, Luke tells the story of his too-short time with Finn. This is his tribute to storytelling, parenthood, and his rosy-cheeked, blue-eyed baby boy.
