Historia
Fourteen-year-old Mona isn't like the wizards charged with defending the city. She can't control lightning or speak to water. Her familiar is a sourdough starter, and her magic only works on bread. She has a comfortable life in her aunt's bakery making gingerbread men dance. But Mona's life is turned upside down when she finds a dead body on the bakery floor. An assassin is stalking the streets of Mona's city, preying on magic folk, and it appears that Mona is his next target. And in an embattled city suddenly bereft of wizards, the assassin may be the least of Mona's worries.

Historia
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

Wow, so many levels of reality and humor
Revisado: 02-05-23
There are so many things I want to comment on but don't want to ruin.
The obvious perfect thing is having Wil Wheaton narrate with his connection to Star Trek is priceless.
The story and using it's logic in a fun way made me smile.
The codex part with the social media aspect made me want to find the thread and comment.
It is a fun story.

Historia
When COVID-19 sweeps through New York City, Jamie Gray is stuck as a dead-end driver for food-delivery apps. That is, until Jamie makes a delivery to an old acquaintance, Tom, who works at what he calls “an animal rights organization”. Tom’s team needs a last-minute grunt to handle things on their next field visit. Jamie, eager to do anything, immediately signs on. What Tom doesn't tell Jamie is that the animals his team cares for are not here on Earth. Not our Earth, at at least. In an alternate dimension, dinosaur-like creatures named Kaiju roam a warm and human-free world.

Humorous and cogent. You won't regret this book, jokes about the pandemic, science and corporate culture.

interesting blend of old ideas
Revisado: 06-02-22
The writing style strings you to find out what happens next. I enjoyed the blending of traditional ideas about the fey with some novel new ones in regards to human abilities to captivate the fey.

Historia
All sorcerers are evil. Elisabeth has known that as long as she has known anything. Raised as a foundling in one of Austermeer’s Great Libraries, Elisabeth has grown up among the tools of sorcery - magical grimoires that whisper on shelves and rattle beneath iron chains. If provoked, they transform into grotesque monsters of ink and leather. She hopes to become a warden, charged with protecting the kingdom from their power. Then an act of sabotage releases the library’s most dangerous grimoire.

Being a librarian where books can fly.
Revisado: 05-07-22
I was captured immediately by the character and the set of circumstances she was in the middle of. The idea of books that are alive and full of magic requiring keeping in the way one tends humans was so fun. The embodiment of ideas in actions of books.
The writing style is vivid and smooth transporting you to the world.
I need see what else she has written.
Narrator expressive and captivating to listen to.

Historia
The Museum of Curiosity is BBC Radio 4's monumental comedy edifice, and the only one with gargoyles in the foyer. It allows nothing inside that doesn't make you scratch your head, stroke your chin or, at the very least, go 'hmm'. Fortunately, helping to fill its vacant plinths is a gathering of the world's most original minds. Among the guests bearing donations to the museum in these 25 episodes are Neil Gaiman, Sarah Millican, Clive James, Kate Adie, Sir Terry Pratchett, Ronni Ancona, Jon Ronson and many more.

Historia
Every Winter, the human population hibernates. Your name is Charlie Worthing, and it's your first season with the Winter Consuls, the committed but mildly unhinged group of misfits who are responsible for ensuring the hibernatory safe passage of the sleeping masses. You are investigating an outbreak of viral dreams which you dismiss as nonsense; nothing more than a quirky artifact borne of the sleeping mind. When the dreams start to kill people, it's unsettling. When you get the dreams, too, it's weird. When they start to come true, you begin to doubt your sanity.

So imaginative!
Revisado: 02-18-19
Mr. Fforde takes you on an adventure into a speculative world where humans hibernate in the winter.
He paints a vivid world with flawed and very real feeling individuals and a social structure full of foibles, mythology and hyprocrypsy.
