Historia
In this inspirational and unflinchingly honest memoir, acclaimed author Reyna Grande describes her childhood torn between the United States and Mexico, and shines a light on the experiences, fears, and hopes of those who choose to make the harrowing journey across the border. Reyna Grande vividly brings to life her tumultuous early years in this “compelling...unvarnished, resonant” (BookPage) story of a childhood spent torn between two parents and two countries.

Five years after the events of Inkdeath, Meggie, Mo, and the people of Ombra lead peaceful lives, their fires warmed by the flames of Dustfinger―the Fire-Dancer. But when Dustfinger spots Orpheus’s glass man within the gates of Ombra, a familiar restlessness begins to haunt him once more. And for good reason… The past five years have been a different story for Orpheus, who has spent his days living a meager and deprived existence, fueled only by his thirst for revenge against Dustfinger and all those who betrayed him.

We have loved this series but this book was SOOOOOOOO long, without much happening.
Revisado: 09-08-24
We love the series but found this book very long without much storyline or action. Whole chapters (hours) are simply the internal thoughts and feelings of a character without any progression in the story. Fingers crossed it doesn’t continue in the same way with the next and last book.

Loved the story but the narrator was distracting
Revisado: 06-11-23
Don’t get me wrong, the narrator did a good job on some of the voices but his female voices make you cringe. The story was worth putting up with it though.

Historia
Underwater archaeologist Kayla Richardson is called to the Golden Gate Bridge where repairs to one of the towers uncovers two human remains from the late 1800s and the 1930s. The head of the bridge restoration is Steven Michaels, who dives with Kayla, and a friendship develops between them. But as the investigation heats up and gold is found that dates back to the gold rush, more complications come into play that threaten them both. Could clues leading to a Gold Rush era mystery that was first discovered during the building of the bridge still ignite an obsession worth killing for?

Enjoyed the historical parts of this and found it very interesting. The narrator did a fantastic job of transporting you into the different story lines and characters.
I could do without some of the sappy romance parts but that’s just me.

Had to adjust speed for different narrators
Revisado: 07-23-21
The story was good… but the narration of the Alice character was very rushed and harsh. Adjusted the reading speed to 0.8x on those chapters and it was much better. (A bit annoying to have to adjust each chapter)
