Ridiculous (unnecessary?) amount of @handles to remember, understand, refer back to and somehow fit into the narrative as the story steams ahead. @who @what @where @when Ridiculous, I tell you. Think Harry Potter and the myriad characters JKR created, and then give them all Twitter accounts hashtags and @handles and put them in a chatroom together! Yikes.
Then.............all of these "characters" become real people with DIFFERENT names. Some are men; some are women; some are related. Some are men pretending to be women. Aha! That is definitely up JKR's alley.
My blood pressure rose every time a "private channel" opened up at the same time a "mod" session was ongoing, WHILE the game was being played. Again, yikes!
Listening to the characters in a chatroom did not have to be so tedious. JKR decided to make it that way for some reason. I truly believe this tome was art imitating life for JKR. I just did not "get" all of her SJW and PC references and whether or not I needed to in order to understand the plot. A bit too deep for me in many places. Conversations in chat could have easily been written so as to better understand and stay up with what was going on. Some or most of these chats are superfluous. Why JK? Why? Poor Robert Glenister. HE is the one who should get an award for this book.
Hopefully, she got all of the SJW, PC and Wokeness back-lashing out of her system, and she will go back to writing an excellent detective series with Robin, Strike, Charlotte, the subs and now Pat and the new detective/love interest? Ryan.

Historia
The second crime novel by internationally best-selling writer Eoin Colfer is a gritty and utterly compelling follow-up to the critically acclaimed Plugged. In Screwed, Colfer adds an entirely new chapter to the adventures and misadventures of Daniel McEvoy, the down-on-his-luck Irish bouncer at a seedy New Jersey bar who, with the help of a motley crew of unlikely characters, solved a bizarre string of murders - including the one of the girl he loved. But people around him continue to die mysteriously, and Daniel is called into action once again.

Side-plitting narration for excellent one-liners.
Revisado: 03-14-22
if you've never listened to John Keating this would be a good place to start. He also does the old country Irish doctor series in Ballybo, Ireland which is also extremely entertaining. But in this story he is too too funny. I am listening to it now for the second time and believe it or not it's even funnier if you lower the speed from 1.0 to 0.9 or even 0.8 it just means that his one-liners are dragged on so that you're laughing longer. the book is risque and R-rated so it's not for the kiddies. ( I guess the title pretty much explains that)

Great book! Great narrator! Not-so-great ending.
Revisado: 01-30-22
This narrator had me on the edge of my seat for hours at a time while I blew through this audio in two days. The meat of the story is SO interesting and she had a way of building up the tension the entire time. I had expectations as to what might happen next based on her level of intensity.....but the bite was not as good as the bark. Especially at the end. Build, build, build, build..... then bubkis. The female character also was rather annoying--flipping from strong and determined one minute to a weak welcome mat the next. The exhilarating moments--and there were a lot--never produced a punch. Not even the ending, which everything she and an inmate talked about should have brought a brilliant conclusion, didn't.

The last line of this book was anti-climactic
Revisado: 05-25-21
Why didn't she identify to whom she brought the roses? She kept the roses a secret for God's sake. As if she were building up to where she was going, what she had to do, finally. I think many readers were waiting for that pronouncement. Did they know who it was? Maybe. Probably. But to hear the main character bring it home at the end would have left me much more satisfied. As it is, the book ended with a dud of a last line. But don't let that stop you from listening to it. It kept me rapt all the way through.....until that last sentence. I wanted so much to hear her say it. But she didn't. And when I say "she", I mean the author!

The autistic character is the icing on this cake!
Revisado: 05-15-21
Even without that fabulous character, Mia, this is a great listen. But the way the narrator gives her a slight accent and delivers her "one-liners" so dead pan it's just too fantastic. After refusing to shake a black man's hand (she shakes no one's hand because "she doesn't like to be touched"); Mia says, "It's not because your black." Period. No more. I loved Mia. Wes loves Mia. Everyone loves Mia!

If this woman can write a book, then so can I.
Revisado: 03-19-21
Yikes. I don't know which was worse--the writing or the narration. Here's an example: "I'd rather eat my right arm then stay in this hospital for one more minute." Not, "chew my arm off" but "EAT my arm". Dear God. In the hands of another writer, this could have been a good story.

Historia
The Goldfinch is a haunted odyssey through present-day America and a drama of enthralling force and acuity. It begins with a boy. Theo Decker, a 13-year-old New Yorker, miraculously survives an accident that kills his mother. Abandoned by his father, Theo is taken in by the family of a wealthy friend. Bewildered by his strange new home on Park Avenue, disturbed by schoolmates who don't know how to talk to him, and tormented above all by his unbearable longing for his mother, he clings to one thing that reminds him of her: a small, mysteriously captivating painting that ultimately draws Theo into the underworld of art.

I wanted to listen to Boris for hours
Revisado: 02-03-21
At first I thought no way, 32 hours; but I've got the time and peace and quiet to really listen--not 'on the go'. This is a performance piece of literature along with the narration. David Pittu is so many people in one! If this book was simply read by someone with no character development, I could never have gotten through it. Anybody who has actually read this book and liked it will have an entirely new and supremely more enjoyable experience by listening to this performance of it.

Historia
Welcome to winter in Three Pines, a picturesque village in Quebec, where the villagers are preparing for a traditional country Christmas, and someone is preparing for murder. No one liked CC de Poitiers. Not her quiet husband, not her spineless lover, not her pathetic daughter - and certainly none of the residents of Three Pines. CC de Poitiers managed to alienate everyone, right up until the moment of her death. When Chief Inspector Armand Gamache, of the Sûreté du Quebec, is called to investigate, he quickly realizes he's dealing with someone quite extraordinary.

Revisado: 07-24-19
I own 12 of the Armande Gamache audible books in the series when they were narrated by Ralph Cosham. Since Book 12 I have only read them since I do not want to alter any of the characters that Mr. Cosham has brought to life. All of Ms. Penny's Gamache books are SENSATIONAL. I listen to what I have in my library over and over again. From start to finish. I never want to be without the people living in Three Pines.

The best minister since Billie Graham
Revisado: 08-06-18
David Jeremiah has been part of my day, every day, for the past ten years. Each morning I open his Daily Devotional email and read it in less than two minutes. Then later in the day I click on "Listen to the Message" when I return from work and just lay still and listen to him for 30 minutes. Starting my day and ending my work day with David Jeremiah has been the best decision I've made for a more hopeful, peaceful, joy-filled existence. I recommend him (and it) very highly.
