I've listened to hundreds of these stories and I've never listened to one where the MC is such an idiot. MC lives in a world where this is all real then why does end up with one after saving for years for it he act like he's woken up and knows nothing. the skills being those screaming balls is just not well described early on. seriously worst book in a long time and the MC's ignorance is just not entertaining . maybe I'll go to last chapter and see if the what are obviously paid reviews are right and it finishes well. not holding breath

just wish they would have incorporate the heist into this one so the seal bearer arc could have started with book 15.

Great news series ...once you take the following into consideration

ok first you need to go into this acknowledging that it's a card based system. which is always odd .. especially with the random draw aspect of the system. #2..you'll need to remember the MC is not a genius and been part of gang for decades as a thug/enforcer.
once you've done that...this thing rocks. the plot twists were transparent but see #2.
I really liked the Cerebus angle as well as the angels and demons.
Soundbooth did what they do ..make it better. the Narrator alone is an elite so he didn't need the rave music in background, but it was a great touch.
so chop chop on the next 2 audiobook releases.
last thing...a PDF with the world summary/overview and graphics/images of the same cards would allow for less repeating of the cards' special details and be a nice touch on the world building. I know they are on Reddit but you can't tell what's official or fan/AI made.

agree with the other reviews that there was a dip in the series (both good and bad guys) so I am very happy with this recent installment.
I am still curious why they can't get these books up to 12/15 hours. this sub 10 hrs is just not enough.
