Historia
Turning the other cheek does not mean standing by while the enemies of God dismantle Christian civilization and brainwash our children. Decrying the cowardice that masquerades as meekness, Eric Metaxas summons the Church to battle. An attenuated and unbiblical “faith” based on what Bonhoeffer called “cheap grace” has sapped the spiritual vitality of millions of Americans. Paying lip service to an insipid “evangelism,” they shrink from combating the evils of our time. Metaxas refutes the pernicious lie that fighting evil politicizes Christianity.

I don't normally read or listen to such novels but live near the town that Joe Bryan was wrongly convicted. I expect more Grisham novels are in my future. The reader was excellent as well.

Historia
Believers are called to authentically demonstrate both the character of Jesus and the supernatural power of the Holy Spirit in their daily lives. Unfortunately, parts of the church are unwilling to encourage the operation of the Holy Spirit’s empowering gifts, for fear of creating disorder and chaos. Greg Mohr contends that the biblical mandate for all believers is to move in the regular, supernatural demonstration of the Spirit’s gifts.

Great book but a terrible reader
Revisado: 07-22-21
Powerful book but the reader was a terrible distraction. He mispronounced words repeatedly. For instance. he failed to distinguish from the word "prophesy" as noun then as a verb. His pauses, breaks, and general misreading of phrases distorted logical meanings. I don't plan to listen to this reader again.

Historia
Taking his trademark intellectual approach to understanding Christianity, Timothy Keller uncovers the essential message of Jesus, locked inside his most familiar parable. Within that parable Jesus reveals God's prodigal grace toward both the irreligious and the moralistic. This book will challenge both the devout and skeptics to see Christianity in a whole new way.

Review of THE PRODIGAL GOD
Revisado: 04-20-21
A good in depth treatise of a well known parable that is perhaps NOT fully understood. Perhaps the parable should be referred to as the parable of the two sons. This is an excellent read.

Historia
Nicholas Herman (c. 1605-1691) was born in Lorraine, France and served as a cook and shoe repairer at a Carmelite monastery. He was only a lay member of the order, and walked with a limp from injuries incurred as a soldier, yet his private thoughts provide a wellspring of devotional insight and refreshment.

Excellent narration of a legalistic view of God.
Revisado: 03-29-21
Excellent narration of a devoted monk who held a pessimistic and legalistic view of God. Persons who believe that God sends sickness as a teaching will appreciate this viewpoint, but my Bible says we should submit to God and resist the devil. (James 4:7)

Historia
As believers in Jesus Christ, we naturally want to know how we can hear God’s voice. Does God speak? Is He speaking to you? The good news is, yes, He is speaking. And like a radio host broadcasting His voice into the airwaves, God speaks all the time. The question is, are we tuned in to the right frequency? God communicates with us in multiple ways, whether through the Bible, through circumstances, or even through a whisper. Pastor Robert Morris demonstrates how we can grow in our faith, maturing from sheep hearing His voice to hearing it as His friend or even as a prophet.

Another Robert Morris hit.
Revisado: 02-19-17
While reading Speak Life by Brady Boyd, a member of Gateway Church of Southlake, Texas advised that she had heard Brady speak at Gateway. She said that Robert Morris' Frequency was an excellent companion on "tuning in to hear God". She was right. By the way, I rated Speak Life with 5 stars as well. I will get another Robert Morris book and/or audio soon. Al Culp

Historia
The most important conversation you'll have. Why do so many of our conversations with one another lead to misunderstanding and hurt feelings? Brady Boyd turns to the example of Jesus Christ to show that the health of our conversations can be only as vibrant as the health of our interactions with God. As Proverbs says, "The words of the reckless pierce like swords, but the tongue of the wise brings healing" (Proverbs 12:18 niv).

Revisado: 01-24-17
Speak Life by Brady Boyd is an easy to read and Biblically based book. The illustrations from Mr. Boyd's personal life were helpful. End of chapter questions for contemplation were helpful. I'll definitely be looking for other Brady Boyd books.
