Another Hit!

Total
5 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 04-22-11

Carr hits another homerun with yet another Virgin River romance. Again, I love the characters in Virgin River, Carr gives such attention to detail in fleshing out each character she introduces....opening the door for them each to share their story in the next Virgin River romance.
Wonderful escape! Carr's Virgin River books are nice stand-alone's but even better when read as a series. You cannot help but fall in love with each person she introduces to the community and enjoy "visiting" with them again in future books and glimpsing how their life is progressing..

Molly Harper is quickly becoming a favorite! She has a distinctive voice and unique way of turning a phrase....you don't want to miss a single word.
Harper is laugh out loud funny as she combines true to life feelings and situations with her paranormal love interests with comedic flair. Her books offer a perfect escape from reality and guarantee to put a smile on your face! If her name is listed as author, I'll be making the purchase!

Everybody loves Lowell!

Total
4 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 07-12-10

Although this is book 1 in a Midevil Times series, the second book is a stand alone story, as I anticipate book 3 will be as well. However, some story-line items do continue and reading them in order will no doubt be helpful.

I love Lowell books because she gives enough detail for you to "see" the story but not so much that you are bogged down with the mundane. Her books are entertaining, don't require deep thought or analysis, although historical in setting it isn't a boring history lesson but just another scene prop.
This is yet another wonderful, easy, relaxing Lowell read.

Lovin' Lowell!

Total
4 out of 5 stars

Revisado: 07-12-10

Elizabeth Lowell never fails to entertain! This is book 2 of a Medievil series, so be sure you get the first one....even though the story does stand alone. Get the series....you'll love it!
Attention to detail, but not so much that you are inunduated with "noise," cleanly written and a wonderful escape!

Don't bother

Revisado: 07-04-10

Buying this audiobook was my own stupidity. I KNOW that I don't like the bastardized versions of classics....but I thought this could be done in a fun way. Nope.
The added/changed details were described as if we would know (or care) about the differences between a Governess #213 (or whatever) vs. a Household 123.... model names and numbers of androids - as if we would know. Story would have flowed much better if it was merely titled Droid.
Unless you are a glutton for punishment or just have money to blow....save yourself some pain and expense. Don't purchase.

Buy it, but it is not typical D.G.

Total
2 out of 5 stars

D.G. introduced me to the extreme novel...and I love them now because you get so involved with the characters.
Diana's books are always lengthy and so vividly detailed, her characters are three dimensional because she gives such lavish and loving attention introducing them to you....Echo is a let down as she spent more time on the battles that she did on the people.
I realize that Jamie & Claire cannot live forever and Echo is obviously a transitional book, moving us toward their ending and more into the lives of others that come after.
I believe Diana tried to convince us that William has the warrior instincts of Jamie, but not the boldness or passions as he was raised by John. The nature vs. nuture thing.
I believe she tried to inspire in us the fear of father vs son on the battlefield....but it came across as so much of a history lesson that the drama we crave got buried. I was very bored with the amount of time spent developing battles.... There were so many other things brought to the story in the end that could have been fleshed out during the meat of the story. We were hurried thru so much of the stuff that D.G. normally makes us see and feel deeply.
One personal pet peeve...In an interview about Echo, D.G. promised that she would reveal why Jamie could dream the future, how/why he saw Claire in the future, and resolve the Jamie GHOST from Outlander....where he stares up at Claire and Frank's room BEFORE Claire falls thru time. Nope. Not in this book.
If you love Jamie and Claire, buy the book because it is the next stepping stone in the saga and you need it to build your bridge to the end. Just don't expect it to leave you breathless like the others.
