Historia
Peter F. Hamilton’s startling perspectives on tomorrow’s technological and cultural trends span vast tracts of space and time, his stories are as compelling as they are epic in scope, and yet they are always grounded in characters – human, alien and other – who, for all their strangeness, still touch our hearts and fire our imaginations.

Worth it.
Revisado: 09-22-20
I was struggling a bit due to the length, but really every part of this book is interesting and moves story forward. Great structure, great ending (could have been better. i guess), some interesting twists, and plenty of logic in the story ;)
I like it.
Time for a next PFH book!

Historia
AD 3580. The Intersolar Commonwealth has spread through the galaxy to over a thousand star systems. It is a culture of rich diversity with a place for everyone. Even death itself has been overcome. But at the centre of the Commonwealth is a massive black hole. This Void is not a natural artefact. Inside there is a strange universe where the laws of physics are very different to those we know. It is slowly consuming the other stars of the galactic core - one day it will devour the entire galaxy.

Slow, but enjoyable and different.
Revisado: 07-10-20
somehow different than Pandora's Star and Judas Unchained, but continuation of the same universe with big changes. Nice connectioma to the previous books, both in the story and characters, despite happening 1000 years later.
The Void is still mysterious to me, and is pretty fantastic, which is weird for a sci-fi book, but it does work. And similar to previous book a complex story of many factions, aliens, and people is created by following multiple characters.
The story somehow stops abruptly, so next book is a must.

Historia
A Fire Upon the Deep is the big, breakout book that fulfills the promise of Vinge's career to date: a gripping tale of galactic war told on a cosmic scale. Thousands of years hence, many races inhabit a universe where a mind's potential is determined by its location in space, from superintelligent entities in the Transcend, to the limited minds of the Unthinking Depths, where only simple creatures and technology can function.

Almost perfect
Revisado: 05-21-19
First off: amazing narration performance.
Story is a bit mysterious and sometimes action oriented, but still keep you wondering what happens next. there isn't many boring parts, but the end is a bit week, leaving you a bit unsatisfied. However the story and style of writing is rather original and innovative. The world is pretty complex too, and really well built, with enough things unexplained to keep you hooked and not bored. you will fine here a lot of stuff, fights, philosophy, psychology, starships, networking, epic galactic conflicts, chases, lies, spy stories, love stories, and many more. It is a good book, and very ambitious too. The set of characters is reasonably small, and not yet another "team of veried heros" to do something, at least not in usual sense. So in this sense it isn't your usual action space opera, but something much more
I just wished it was maybe a bit shorter, but in retrospect I see almost all pieces of the story serve some story purpose.
There were few times were I was a bit confused tho, i.e. early on I didn't know that characters are actually multi-person beings, so it was really confusing. Or didn't pay attention in some other places, because the story in specific chapter was just not my type. Fortunately a lot of chapters are somehow skippable to some extent, as there are few substories that can be summaried in 5 sentenced.
Highly recommended.

Disappointed
Revisado: 01-19-19
Not as complex or novel as I was expecting. The three body is actually three body, there are 3 sun's, and have chaotic motion. There is a planet that tries to survive chaos.
The only interesting idea is at the end with idea of using extra dimensions and entangled intelligent / smart particles to confuse people.
It reassembles Lem's "Master's Voice".
the only thing that keeps you listening are few characters, non linear story telling and Chinese and scientific references around. Idea of nano fiber string / blade was also interesting and fun.
The conclusion about auto destruction, conflict, environmeny and fate of humanity is ok, but not very well executed. it leaves a cliffhanger.
I think the story could be told better by tweaking few things, removing a lot characters and backstories. I was often bored, and have seen not much novelty. (I am familiar with many other hard SF titles and modern science and many new hypothesis around , it was nice to see some of that be used, but ultimately it didn't help much the story).
