It's okay... but
Revisado: 10-20-17
The characters and their interactions all feels so fake and forced. The nasty nobles are so nasty is comical, the good nobles are so good its eye-rolling. And most characters seem to flip between extreme emotional states willy-nilly. If the plot/joke requires an certain emotion or level of stupidity then that will be assigned to the character no matter if it fits with their personality or history.
A angry, prideful and strong man is insulted, humiliated, threatened and then sent on an errand by a man he views as inferior to himself. Instead of leaving with clenched fists and a grinding jaw, he slinks off, pale skinned and trembling with fear. No, just no.This kind of thing happens way to often. Please work on this.
Also, Dale (our new main character), I don't like him at all.
But other than that it was good. Looking forward to book 3.

A word of caution.
Revisado: 02-23-16
First, let me say that the world, plot and narration are all excellent. However, it falls short were it truly matters, the main character. The kitchen boy, Simon, is naive, clumsy, willful, selfish and stupid. He lacks any virtue that I can admire, nor is he being mistreated in any way that would allow me to feel either pity or riotous indignation on his behalf. Also, he has no strong motivation to drive him.
In short, he should not have been the main character.
It feels like the actual story is happening to the side with all the rich and intriguing characters all taking part. And we, the listeners, only get a glimpse of it, the few times Simon happens by to eavesdrop. The rest of the time its just the boy feeling bad for himself or getting a lecture on the history of the world.
(Dropped a the 12 hour mark. Couldn't take it anymore.)

I have no words.
Revisado: 03-10-14
This book consumed me and hurled me away. The boring and forgettable Shallan form the first book is gone, and a new interesting Shallan have taken her place. (Though Kaladin still blows everyone else out of the water.)
With the world alive like never before, it is amazing to think that we are only scratching the surface.
I am too deep in now, I need to see this to the end.

I didn't like this book at all.
Revisado: 01-27-13
I really enjoyed the other two books in this series. Which in a way makes this book even worse.
Everything I liked about Fits is removed, and all that is left is a stumbling selfish idiot.
He has become a slave to his emotions (mainly fear) with no resolve. Several times after deciding something he would just turn right around with the excuse "I could not stop myself" or "I just had to do it". At one point I got so angry over one of these I had to stop the audiobook and go hit my kitchen table.
In fact if I think about it, I don't like the way any of the characters have developed, except for perhaps Nighteyes.
After every chapter there is a section where the narrator just gives reader information about the world. These are often repetitive and we get told a lot of things we already know.
At at least two points the narrator pauses from the story and provides spoilers of whats gonna happen.
I just started with part 5 and i honestly don't want to continue.
I think I'll just pretend book 2 ended with Fits living happily ever after as a wolf.

Historia
Vlad Taltos is very good at killing people. That, combined with two faithful companions and a talent for witchcraft, makes him an assassin par excellence. But lately his heart just hasn't been in his work, so he decides to retire. Unfortunately, old enemies have scores to settle with Vlad. So much for retirement!

Disappointing
Revisado: 09-20-12
I have truly loved this series up until this point...but this book have some major flaws.
Vlad and Loiosh have been reduced to sidecharacters.
And the new main characters are now Rocza and a rather slow village boy.
This would not have been so bad if Rocza could talk or if the boy was either smart, quick or witty....That is however not the case.
If a question is asked in this book there is a 90% chance that the answer will be "nevermind","I don't know" or "...nothing" this gets very frustrating after a while.
The plot ok-ish, but badly paced.
I will probably not listen to it again.
If you are wondering if you can jump this book without losing the story.
Yes, I believe you can.

I normally don't wright reviews but...
Revisado: 05-16-12
Rarely do I come across books that I don't like. I went right in with in with my normal enthusiasm. But I soon found myself bored due to the lack of details and descriptions.
We what we get is:
"He got angry and hit him"
Why not make it something like this:
"John could feel the blood rush trough his veins, his hands clenched. Before Tom could react, he struck. His fist made a satisfying crunch as it connected with Tom's face" ?
The characters don't come alive in the first case, and the characters are the ones that make the story.
A few hours in I had no idea about anyone's story, appearance, motivations, or character.
All I knew is that the main character is a blond tomboy who wants to be a soldier
(for no real reason).
Another thing, you don't name 10 characters in 2 minutes, with no description if you want people to remember them. (I actually forgot the antagonists name.)
In my view there is nothing that drives the story, no tension, no emotions, nothing.
But perhaps its my young male mind who can't handle a female voice doing the narration.
Or perhaps it becomes vastly better after she was locked up?
All i know is that this book was a disappointment.
