a strong female main character

The book got and held my interest initially until the last chapter. The author in the end took the easy way out to resolver some issues. the way she did it was not congruent with the story line throughout the whole book. I was left saying WTF??!! Did I miss a few chapters? Where did that come from? That made no sense? No author with any literary integrity should ever grab for such an easy expedient way to end a book. So disappointed. I won't be reading the next one in the series. I can't trust this author to put in the effort to write a believable ending.

Vile disgusting book that should come with a warning.

I am an avid romance reader. after looking at the amount of reviews with 4 and 5 stars given to this book I gave it a try. I will tell you now so you don't make the same mistake I did. this book is about 2 porn making predators who pick up a young woman off the street they clearly saw was in trouble. they offer her money to give one of them oral sex while the other videotapes. they Bring her back to their apartment where they find out she has been kidnapped, drugged branded and forced to perform sex for men. they proceed to coerce her into further humiliating acts with them knowing she is still under the influence of drugs, (isn't that the quintessential definition of rape where she is under the influence and essentially unable to give consent?) They even perform a double penetration act on her. I was so disgusted I couldn't continue. if that's your kink. then by all means listen to this horrendous book. I however do not find serial sexual and physical abuse of women and vile porn entertaining. I wish I would have been warned before purchasing this book and shame on Amazon and Audible for selling this trash. consider yourself warned. I will make a complaint and try to get my credit back. DISGUSTING!

One long porno with a little story thrown in.

Seeing all the great reviews, I thought I would give this book and author a try. I like a spicy novel like any romance lover, but this one is too much even for me. Halfway through I was stll waiting for a plot. It was sex scenes after sex scenes. I was so board I went back to read the reviews again thinking. "I must be missing something ". one reviewer said she almost gave up but was glad she hung in there. so I hung in, rolling my eyes and still waiting for a plot. when one finally came, I was so sick of the book and characters, I was fast forwarding the sex scenes. I stopped caring about the characters. While the theme **spoiler alert** abuse and sex trafficking is a worthy one, It was handled very poorly. There are better books out there that get that theme right without killing the reader with sex scenes. It's almost ironic that the author attempts to address the issue while overindulging in sex scenes ( see how annoying it is for me to keep saying sex scenes?), just as annoying as it was for me to read them. I won't be reading the next book or this author ever again.

this is the wors book I've ever listened to. the story was so contrived and implausible, I couldn't even stretch my imagination far enough to believe any of it. chapter 13 and I'm done. I don't understand the great reviews. So glad I only paid $.99 cents for it. I think it wasn't even worth that much.

Reads like a YA book.

I normally love JLA books, but this one is bad. Teen angst dragged out for almost 12 hrs. only the last 2 hrs of the book goes anywhere, and by then I had already figured out the ending. JLA usually has a surprise twist at the end of her books. The twist wasn't surprising, and it certainly wasn't worth the listening time. Not sure if I'll read the rest of the series. Very disappointing.

Amazing!! Warning..Cliffhanger!!

it took me a week to finally write a review. I was still on a reading high and savoring every nuance of this series. I don't know which one is better FBaA series or this one. they are both sooo good! I know Ms Armentrout likes a cliffhanger so be warned. I hate that we have to wait a whole year for the next book. I loved Sara, she is a strong female character , not afraid to say what she wants and go after it. the romance is steamy. The plot is amazing with many surprises and lots of action. Great read. JLA has done it again.

Sooo Disappointing

I love the Night Huntress Series, even the spin-off Night Prince and Night Rebel. I don't usually listen to to the novellas but I thought of how much I loved Kat and Bones so was excited to listen to Bones POV about when they first met. Boy am I disappointed. when I read another reviewer complain that the story was not read by Tavia Gilbert I thought ...How bad could it be??? This Narrator was so bad the usual humor and funny lines just didn't land. Tavia gave Bones a character!! This narrator spoke so slowly and was so boring I listened at 1.5 times speed just to get through the book. Most disappointing of all is the story just wasn't gripping. It lacked the thrill and intensity of the previous books. The sizzling connection between Kat and Bones was just flat. The book was so disappointing that I'm going to re-listen to the 1st Books all over again so I can get the taste of this one out of my mouth . I'm going back so I can remember how great this series was before this clunker. This should have been an easy write. A retelling of a story with a different POV... Instead it was a fail. Sorry Jeaniene you've written better. I'm still a fan. give me more Night Huntress, but give me better.

open minded and loved this story

read some reviews that wanted to be warned that there were LGBT characters in this story. so here is your warning. this book represented some real life issues and I loved it!! I'm an African American woman and so sick of the majority of romance writers writing only about white characters as if the world is not multi hued. multicultural and complicated. there are paranormal romances that deal with all kinds of species but only a few, mostly Black authors who mix it up realistically with a real world view. Theodora Taylor is the top author in this category in my mind. She see the world broadly and writes amazingly realistic sexy and hot multicultural romances. keep up the good work. on to her next book for me.

Terrible

I had just finished reading Jennifer Armentrouts' Blood And Ash series so I was looking for my next great saga. I saw the thousands of great reviews for ACOTAR so I was excited to read the series. What a big disappointment the first book was compared Blood and Ash. There was some good characters, the storyline was promising. The end was intriguing. The problem was the story was sooooo dragged out it was difficult to get through. I actually fell asleep at some points. It was the ending to the book that finally got me invested again, Also most reviewers of the 2nd book said it was better than the first so that convinced me to give it another try. Sorry to say I will be returning the book. I Pushed through to chapter 40 but the story was so boring the plot so clunky and going nowhere I couldn't take it anymore. Feyres development was so whimpy. She never showed any strength or self determination as in the first book but acted like she was a damsel in distress instead of a stong female as she showed promise of becoming at the end of the first book. She went from Tamlin taking care of and directing her to Rhysand taking care of and directing her The story was awful. This is only the 2nd book I've ever returned in my 5+ yrs Audible history. It was that bad.

Smoking Hot

Troy Duran has the most smoking hot, panty dropping voice I have ever heard. Jakobi Diem is another hot narrator. I would listen to any book they narrated. The story was good too. loved that Tru was a strong female lead. looking for my next Troy Duran read.***SWOON***
