Nice new dragon fantasy

I saw this book on Amazon before the hype and was like this seems like a book I would read. Then, it blew up and it was hard to get an actual book but audiobook was available and it was a good listening experience

I love how this follows or leads up to the story that we all know. The only part I didn’t like was when Chester the cat from Alice in wonderland was included in a different form but overall I loved the book. I would recommend this to anyone
This book was recommended to me by the fbook group YA fantasy addicts. It is a beautiful retelling of The Little Mermaid. You have Vanessa and Triton. Vanessa wishes to train with the Royal Guard to become the queen. Triton just wants to be king of the Manatee pups.
Their dad Poseidon is a strong hand and hard father. He is hard on the children. Their mother had died by a boat. The mermaids and humans have been at war for awhile. The mermen collect trinkets from boats that had sunk. There is a counsel that includes one person from each of the 7 seas.
At the summit Vanessa speaks out of turn and the royal guard picked Triton as their person to sponsor. Vanessa is crushed and runs off. Her brother tries to catch her but she hides in a cave and she tells him to leave. She sees 2 baby sharks and the corpse of her dead mother. She tells Vanessa to make the sharks bigger and she does and gives them names.
She sees her fathers new queen who wants to train her into becoming the next queen. She shakes the earth to make rocks fall into the dolphin pin but Vanessa saves them with her magic that she is scared to use. She tells her friend Ashler everything. His mother is a servant to the kingdom. She proposes a plan to her dad and the counsel that they should arrange a peace meeting and then to strike the humans when they are least expecting it. Well, they go to the surface but Poseidon is hit with a harpoon and is severely wounded. The queen is furious at Vanessa for this. Also the kingdom wants her punished and has the queen who is the royal alchemist cut her tongue out.
She starts to see more visions of her mom. She is called to visit her dad who reveals everything to her. Like how her mom would visit a man on the land after turning her tail into legs. He followed her one day and witnessed this. He then had the council have her beaches along with anti-magical cuffs. Vanessa is a half breed while her brother is not. While this is going on Vanessa didn’t have a voice she gave it back to herself with magic. She was also making a spell to fix her dad but withdrew it once he admitted all of this. Like saying he tried to love her but couldn’t. She feels so much and she don’t know what to do. With her mom being beached and trying to make her leave the room so she wouldn’t hear this information. Or that her dad, well who she thought was her dad, didn’t love her at all.
After this she leaves and her step mom is furious that she didn’t save him. She would’ve but he told her all that news and she didn’t have the heart to save him. They then have the ceremony to see who gets the triton and who gets the Ursula shell. Vanessa’s mom with her corpse hand touches the triton and lifts it for her to grab but Vanessa says no and the Ursula shell jumps to her hand. No on ever really showed the princess any respect throughout the years. She has her little shop and spot in the city for people to come see her. Her brother visits her and talks.
The mermen from other regions think he isn’t a very good king since nothing has been done since Poseidon died. One of the seas people surround him and won’t let his men get to him. He wants her to unleash her spell. But she isn’t ready for it. Her stepmom helps her harness the power for the spell but in the end pulls away and the spell ends before it’s suppose to. It makes a mermaid have legs which would have drowned the bad guys. Everyone went to swallow water but the humans killed them and she lost her love. The king and everyone wasn’t happy but she never eats out the queen for her part. The queen is pregnant and she is going to name the child Morgona.
The princess is arrested for treason once again and this time she is to have the krakens kiss. Her brother is supposed at this since he recused himself from the sentencing. Vanessa is dragged to the city square. The kraken is summoned and a soldier cuts its tongue and cuts Vanessa with the sword. It burns and hurts. She talks to the kraken saying if he helps her she will take revenge. Her tail basically blows apart and she reaches for the kraken and he fades away. She becomes Ursula but instead of having tail she has octopus legs. She is free and fights the few soldiers near her. Triton wants the Ursula shell but she refuses and runs away. She is banished from the land but her brother says they can still be in each other lives she just can’t return there.
She has a new place where she first met the baby sharks. She tells her brother yet again to go home. She ignore the bad voices to kill her brother and has the baby sharks escort him home.
This is a beautiful retelling as I stated. I hope there is another book so I can continue to enjoy this great story.

LOVE this book, but not the narrator

I gave this book a 5 star. It follows the story of Tesla a level 3 mage. It begins with her making potions and taking them into a town where her witch kind isn’t really liked but tolerated. But this time the couple she usually trades decides they’re not doing it anymore. At the same time outside people began to wrangle up her kind and bring them to town. She escapes with her friend Jewels who is part of this town but then they are captured.
She is put into a pin with other girls of her kind. While her family and other males are put into a barn. The barn is sat on fire and she grabs a wand from one of the soldiers and puts a shield over her and the women. Level 5 Mages came and saved the people in the barn and her as well.
Vain is a level 5 mage that helps her along with Vail. He is the son of the the Black Witch. She is taken to a tent and goes in and out for a few days.
She is made aware that a lot of people don’t like her due to the fact they think she is impure and has had relations with a kelt. She tells them Jewels is just a friend but that does little to change anyone’s mind. Then she is told her and other refugees are gonna be wandfasted which is where you are put together with a mate. Almost like you are promised to this person and lines become visible on your hands. Also, you can’t be with anyone else if you’re a girl because your hands will burn and other things. When you seal the marks they go up your wrist and it means that the ceremony or wand fasting is completed and has been consummated. She almost gets fastmated to this level 5 mage who just wants to see if she’s pure but Vail steps up at the last minute and tells his mom that their infinity lines are the same.
He is kind to her and has her family taking care of. Even though her grandfather almost forced her to be with someone she didn’t want. She gets to know avail more and more. She is fallen for him. She also learns he is friends with Jewels. So that’s why he was trying to act disinterested in her in the beginning.
They try and keep away from each other since both their fires burn. But on the night they were going to seal their bond a knock comes at the door and it’s a friend of Vail’s. He needs Vail to help in the Hiding of his mistress that’s a seal woman. She can turn into a seal with her skin. If she does have her skin then she’s powerless and takes the form of a human. She has this baby and they both are in trouble. So, they agree to help and hide them.
Then it fast forwards to their a wedding that they have and that’s the end. The only part I didn’t like was it seems to just all of a sudden ends.

Is Zenith worth the hype???

I originally bought the hardback book. Then I got the audible. i listened to the book in 3 days. it was such a good book. I wanted to read it every sec of the day. I didnt like when andi got mad at her dad. like why??? but I enjoyed all the characters and the adventures that they went on.
