Historia
Allow yourself to relax as a loving maternal figure combs, brushes, and braids your hair, then pins it up with ribbons. Throughout, she warmly reminisces about her own childhood while admiring you and your hair in the mirror. Whisperlodge is a pioneering New York-based company that performs live ASMR events around the country. Their collaboration with us is the first time they've allowed their work to be recorded, and you can now experience the talent of their renowned ASMRtists at home.

The Foley seemed off
Revisado: 06-15-20
The beginning moments just really didn't work for me. The sounds of the brush, comb, and scissors sounded like they were being drawn across Styrofoam instead of hair. I found this to be very jarring and did not make for a relaxing session.

Historia
Sixteen-year-old Zoey Redbird has just been Marked as a fledgling vampire and joins the House of Night, a school where she will train to become an adult vampire. That is, if she makes it through the Change - and not all of those who are Marked do. It sucks to begin a new life, especially away from her friends, and on top of that, Zoey is no ordinary fledgling. She has been chosen as special by the vampire Goddess Nyx.

Enjoy the books, can't stand the narrator
Revisado: 11-18-16
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I feel like this book is better spent reading than listening to it read by this particular narrator. The story and the series are, in my opinion, very good reads, but the narrator does not seem able to produce a consistent American accent
What did you like best about this story?
In general, I like the series itself as a fresh way of doing a teenage vampire story.
How did the narrator detract from the book?
She has a good reading voice, however, this book is set in Oklahoma. Her American accent isn't terrible, but her native Australian accent comes through on a lot of words ("been", "schedule", "priestess", etc.) and that is very distracting. Also all her "twang" voice characters sound exactly alike, and the only other voice variation used (other than slowing down and changing volume) is to make all the adult female teachers British. At least, that is how it feels to me. Also, Shaunee ends up sounding like she is from a southern state when it is clearly stated when we meet her that she is from New England (which has a very different dialect).
Do you think Marked needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
Follow-up book? It has squeals. About 10 of them, if I'm not mistaken. Unless follow-up means a re-release with a different narrator. One who can either do a variety of American dialects (make the Oaky twang different from the Texas drawl) or one who doesn't try to change her voice for each character.

Historia
Sometimes the past isn't what you expect it to be. Rouge has survived the last months of school and is starting a new chapter after graduation. She wants answers to the questions about her past and is still hiding secrets from those she loves. Her hope is to find what she needs in Niagara Falls so she can move forward in her relationship with Michael and have a chance to convince his family that she is worthy of him. The ancient Grollic - wolf - book reveals another of its secrets, again only to Rouge.

Narrator kills the listening immersion
Revisado: 10-29-15
Who would you have cast as narrator instead of Elizabeth Meadows?
Chloe Golden (the narrartor who did part 1 and part 2). I perfer when book series keep the same narrator through out.
Any additional comments?
The biggest turn off from the audio book was the narrator's habit of pausing in the middle of a sentence as if there were a period there, very Shatner-esque. It made the delivery very choppy and difficult to follow. Also, the lack of vocal difference between characters (no change in her vocal patterns at all) sometimes made the dialouge hard to follow.
