Historia
Long before books were mass-produced, hand-copied scrolls made from Nile River reeds were the treasures of the ancient world. Emperors and pharaohs, determined to possess them, dispatched emissaries to the edges of the known world to bring them back. Exploring the deep and fascinating history of the written word, from the oral tradition to scrolls to codices, internationally bestselling author Irene Vallejo shows that books have always been a precious and precarious vehicle for civilization.

Historia
His good friend Mark Twain dubbed him "St. Andrew." British Prime Minister William Gladstone called him an "example" for the wealthy. Such terms seldom apply to multimillionaires. But Andrew Carnegie was no run-of-the-mill steel magnate. At age 13 and full of dreams, he sailed from his native Dunfermline, Scotland, to America. Here, in one volume, are two impressive works by Andrew Carnegie himself: his autobiography and The Gospel of Wealth, a groundbreaking manifesto on the duty of the wealthy to give back to society all of their fortunes.

Getting to know him
Revisado: 09-01-20
You hear off people , and based on hearsay you form and often time the wrong idea of the person. That was my case with Mr. Carnegie. All I remember was that he was an union buster, when in reality he was not even in the country, when the event happened, and was highly regarded by labor. I wanted to know about Mr. Andrew Carnegie, and came away meeting Andy. In the end I found that he was not more much different than me, and for his humanity I am grateful.

Christian’s view
Revisado: 02-25-18
I am fascinated by this story as told by Christian. Most novels focus on how the woman feels, relagating the feelings if the men in the story. I am so earpped up on the emotions andfeelings of Mr. Gray. The contradiction in his mind, being powerful and hopeless, master if his universer yet fearful. I love this view. It also does justice for men, letting us women know that men have feelings. Women do not have a monopoly on emotions and we need to provide the space for the menin our live to experience their feelings as we do. Love it!!
