This is a good mystery, not mind-blowing in its twists and the better because of that. I have mixed feelings about the ending--i think I like it but would have liked the last chapter to do a bit more to bring me to the conclusion.

hard to put down

This story is like a solid episode of Law and Order, but with the time to make all the connections and twists work. I didn't anticipate the twist, but when it happened it totally fit.
The narration was also good-- it's about 95 % narrated by the first narrator, so it isn't switching around frequently. this narrator has a great pace and a soothing voice.

good suspense, dark

this was an interesting story with good suspense and good characters. I'm not sure I loved the plot twist-- won't give anything away but it just felt a little contrived. there is some serious gore, especially early on. I stuck with it and was satisfied overall with the story. location, detail, characters were well developed. I liked the narrator and thought her voice fit well with the main character.

couldn't put it down

this is a great psychological suspense story. the authors tap into something really interesting about how we believe things about ourselves and others based on the stories we tell ourselves. the suspense in this story was unrelenting, and the interweaving of timelines and storylines was very effective. i like Julia Whelan's style and thought she did an excellent job with these characters.

a good listen, if a bit predictable

This was a good story but elements of it were predictable and lacked suspense. The narrator does a nice job with different characters and is easy to listen to. The story still kept me interested, characters were intriguing.

Good children's story of fear and persistence

my daughter loves this story. Streep is excellent, and the story is that of a strong and persistent little girl. the child is honest about her fear, but brave and resourceful. vivid imagery.
