Historia
Ryland Grace is the sole survivor on a desperate, last-chance mission - and if he fails, humanity and the Earth itself will perish. Except that right now, he doesn't know that. He can't even remember his own name, let alone the nature of his assignment or how to complete it. All he knows is that he's been asleep for a very, very long time. And he's just been awakened to find himself millions of miles from home, with nothing but two corpses for company.

I don’t usually listen to this type of book, but I like Ray Porter, (narrator) so I thought I’d give it a try. I’m so glad I did! Great story!

Another Great One
Revisado: 04-23-24
What a fun listen this gem of a story is! Captain Richard and his pals are colorful characters and his narrating is great! I always love when an author narrates his own story. The music between chapters keeps things light, even when the story takes a darker turn.
I also really enjoyed the little bit at the end… I don’t want to give it away, but I will say that it shows the author’s sense of humor and humility. All in all, a great audio book!

Historia
Scions of a once-great southern Chinese family that produced the tutor of the last emperor, Jun and Hong were each other’s best friends until, in their twenties, they were separated at the end of the Chinese Civil War. One became a model Communist, the other a model capitalist. On Taiwan, Jun married a Nationalist general, established a trading company, and emigrated to the United States. On the Communist mainland, Hong built her medical career under a cloud of suspicion about her family and survived two waves of “re-education” before she was acclaimed for her achievements.

I typically like Fictional stories, and every once in a while, I enjoy a biography. But this story was so moving and engaging. It makes you feel for the people who actually suffered through those times. And then, it’s really cool to find out about the descendents of those people.

Historia
Sam Hill always saw the world through different eyes. Born with red pupils, he was called “Devil Boy” or Sam “Hell” by his classmates; “God’s will” is what his mother called his ocular albinism. Her words were of little comfort, but Sam persevered. Sam believed it was God who sent Ernie Cantwell, the only African American kid in his class, to be the friend he so desperately needed. And that it was God’s idea for Mickie Kennedy to storm into Our Lady of Mercy like a tornado, uprooting every rule Sam had been taught about boys and girls. Forty years later, Sam, a small-town eye doctor, is no longer certain anything was by design.

This book was so well written, and the story so captivating. I enjoyed each of the characters and fell in love with Sam Hill. The author did a fantastic job narrating, and I can’t wait to read and/or listen to more of his work.

Moving and beautifully written
Revisado: 04-15-21
I enjoyed this book so much, I sent a copy to my sister in law! The author’s heartfelt story struck me as both honest and relatable. I found myself in tears at several points in the story, but only because it was so very moving. I’m glad I had the opportunity to listen to the story in it’s entirety during a long drive. I wouldn’t have been able to put it down to get anything else accomplished!

Brilliant!
Revisado: 12-06-18
What a fantastic production! The play was so well written ; both funny and emotionally stirring. I’ve always been a fan of Billy Crystal, and he is at his best (yet again) on this recording. All of the actors were perfect in their roles, and the Foley effects truly brought the production to life. This may be my favorite Audible recording of all time!
