Historia
Tess Strebel can’t recognize her own face. She can’t recognize her home. Her bedroom is unfamiliar. And she can’t remember the handsome stranger lying next to her in bed. A stranger who claims he’s her husband. Tess reads a letter in her own handwriting, composed during a rare lucid day, explaining her life as it now exists: she was in a terrible car accident one year ago. Every morning, she wakes up unable to remember most of the last decade. Including her own wedding.

groundhog day, evil version
Revisado: 08-13-24
I am a huge fan of Freida McFadden and have listened to most of her books. But this one was so redundant, boring and frustrating. I really hated
the repeating of the same story over and over and over. I forced myself to listen to all of it because I love her books. I really did not enjoy this book at all.

too much
Revisado: 07-16-22
the narrator was fine, but I wish I had known it was nothing but all the tenets and practices of Mormonism, detailed child sexual abuse and well...no that's about it! Made it to chapter 3 and just can't stand it anymore. So disappointed.

I tried, but narrator ruined it for me
Revisado: 07-10-22
I wanted to finish the book, but the voices of the narrator were so annoying I had to stop and ask for a refund. The babyish voice of the main character was so grating I wanted to scream. Then when she introduced a lesbian character and bounced between a fake mannish voice and the little baby voice I nearly lost my mind.
I wanted to get to know a new true crime author, but couldn't get past the narrator.
I think going forward I will skip books based in Texas, the attempts to imitate a Texas accent are just absurd.

I laughed, I cried, then I wanted to come there immediately to visit. What a life story, and what a change maker she is. If you love animals, you will love this book. She is a serious animal hero ❤
Great narrator too 😁

I usually like this author but...
Revisado: 02-14-22
This story was too over the top for me...and I listen to endless true crime! Too gory and too much needless graphic sex talk read from letters. But the worst thing was the narrator's voices where he tried to be different people. He has a pleasant voice when he is just narrating but when he did other men, they were hokey and sounded like goofy caricatures of men. Kind of like western characters on cartoons. It was so distracting and not befitting of judges or district attorneys. I'm almost done with it but really struggling because the courtroom parts sound absurd.

WHY do some of these female narrators try to do male voices? This was the worst attempt I have ever heard, I had to turn it off. That fake southern accent, ugh 🙄 Typically really like this author but the narration pushed me over the edge. Ruined it for me.

"Clutter" is not just in our visible world - have you ever stopped to think how much is going on in our invisible world? Emotional dependencies are also a form of clutter which can weigh you down and suck the life-force out of you, and with our hectic lifestyles, it is no wonder that our brains feel scrambled all the time as well.

too short to be very helpful, the advice was so simplistic (get 8 hours of sleep, have friend time)
and the narrator bugged me so much I had to turn it off. When I tried it the 2nd time a year later I had to turn it off again.

great book, terrible narrator
Revisado: 02-14-21
almost had to stop several times because I couldn't bear the sounds the narrator made. Heavy breathing, swallowing, sighing and these gulping noises and long pauses obviously to drink. His voice was pleasant enough although it reminded me of film noir. I will not listen to another book narrated by him.
Another great one by Ann Rule though!

my favorite Edwards book so far!
Revisado: 06-29-20
I have probably listened to 10 of his books. This one really kept my interest and I didn't want to stop listening.
Couldn't wait to get back to it each time. It had so many twists and turns! The narrator did an excellent job.
I wish it had a sequel because he left the door wide open for one. If any of you saw that show The Following, it kind of reminded me of that. On to my next Mark Edwards book!

a hard one to listen to...but quite informative
Revisado: 01-15-20
The detail of the crimes almost stopped me from listening a few times. Way more than I ever wanted to know about what serial killers do. But being a fan of true crime novels and detective shows, especially Criminal Minds- it gives such an incredible inside peek and how those things were formed and shaped within the FBI. I found the origins of profiling fascinating.
