this is a problematic book
at least it was in the plus catalog so it was free, too bad I wasted so many hours

super spicy with an amazing narrator!

this was my first time listening to this narrator and he was perfect! he really got all the characters right, their voices matching what we heard in the other books but in his style and it was SO good!

this book is definitely high heat and fast paced, and the bits we get from what I assume are characters for future books are very interesting!

I really love how the story is unfolding in this series and how different the characters are

that epilogue was amazing and I'm very eager to read Bane's book

loved seeing Angel's feisty side

seems things aren't what Angel thought they'd be, he feels he's been shown a side of Mikhail he would fall for only to cruelly find out who his new husband really is

to me this book is all Angel, in other books we've seen him as a naive overprotected kid that's been kept separate from the family business but here we see him taking charge of an unexpected situation, showing us that you can be soft and caring while also being assertive and strong

I loved seeing Angel all sweet making other people's lives better, making a new path for him while also being SO feisty and sassy

we see Bane too and that's making me so eager to read his book, I'm hoping for complete chaos and and some 🩸 play

perfect narrator for this dark romcom 🔥

this book is HOT!

Zane's narration was amazing, it was very entertaining hearing him go from sweet but unhinged to possessive and very extra to unstable but adorable 😆 he really shows all the emotions and different personalities of the characters perfectly


we're following Antony who we've seen mentioned in other books (he's the father of Diablo from the Unexpected series) and Tatum who we see in Ben's book also from the Unexpected series

Anthony is a mafia boss and Tatum is his son's best friend who's been openly showing how attracted he is to him even though Anthony's straight

after a violent incident that leaves Tatum hurt and vulnerable Anthony's need to protect him grows, going on full touch-him-and-die mode and breaking down the lock he has on his own feelings 🥹

there's a lot going on in this book, preparing us for what's to come in the series with a good balance of plot and spicy romance, with a lot of humor but also darkish and stabby moments 🔥🫠

when I saw CR was working on this series I honestly couldn't see how she'd make me care for these guys, Maggie endured so much that I couldn't imagine forgiving his brother but book 1 proved it was possible and I loved the way it was approached, then book 2 was even more emotional while still having the sense of humor we expect, and now?

Mitch's book was so much more than what I was expecting
I read Maggie and Emery's books too and the stories of the other guys that make an appearance too so I have full context and am aware of the different levels of trauma and the characters' ways of coping, so seeing those characters next to Mitch and the way he was feeling-and-avoiding was contrasting and made me go through ALL the emotions

we still have fun and spicy scenes, very sweet moments, and the typical CR humor we crave, but also some moments were extremely real, very relatable, and raw

this is the first time I actually had to take breaks with a Cora Rose book to calm down because I felt it all. I don't want to give specifics because I don't want to spoil any part of Mitch's journey but if I wasn't already impressed by the way CR's brain works I'd totally be right now

the characters we have here, even little pantaloons, had a key part to play that made Mitch's redemption possible, believable, and incredibly emotional

and Zachary Zaba's performance was great as expected, even with so many characters he kept the voices consistent and matching their personalities

I had high expectations and they were more than met, I cried so many times, I really felt for Mitch and his brothers and this is an audiobook I'll keep coming back to

was I expecting to hear Alexander Cedense rap? no but I loved it 😆
this is my favorite of the series so far, it felt fresh and sweet but with a hint of angst and all the found family vibes

it starts very light, sweet and funny
we feel the chemistry from the start and instantly love these guys
then we get to the trauma... poor baby!

I loved that we got funny scenes and the spice is spicy but also there's hurt/comfort that was handled in a very raw way without the need to shock

the narrator was amazing
loved the accents and the emotional performance

getting spicy... for science!

this is my fave of the series so far
loved the chemistry between these guys!

I mean we have the hottest shifter so far and they're getting spicy for science 😏 what's not to love

it's a bit spicier and is still a very easy and fun read like the other 2 books

...loving the narrator even more with each book!
