Historia
Glory returns to Fenris. Magnus the Red and his traitorous legion are defeated upon the icy cliffs of the Space Wolves’ home world, their hollow remains scattered into the darkest depths of the World Sea. Yet Ragnar Blackmane, the youngest Wolf Lord in his Chapter’s noble history, does not feel victorious. He is uneasy. Uncertain of his purpose and place in the great war for the Imperium. Until a vision strikes him of a terrible beast, one greater than any he or his warriors have faced before.

I need more space wolf audio dramas
Revisado: 04-04-22
William King's space wolf was my introduction to 40k. So Ragnar and the space wolves will always be favorites of mine, so maybe I'm biased. I loved the epic odyssey feel of the story.

Historia
Of all the Emperor’s sons who fell to Chaos, it is perhaps Magnus the Red whose tale is the most tragic. Sanctioned because of his desire for knowledge, chastised, judged, and shattered to his very elements – there is much for the Crimson King to feel vengeful for. Yet revenge is not the only thing that draws him to Terra alongside the Warmaster’s besieging armies. He seeks something, a fragment, the missing piece of himself that lies within the most impregnable place on the planet – the inner sanctum of the Imperial Palace.

Thousand Sons got what they deserved
Revisado: 02-23-22
I've enjoyed the Thousand Sons' story even if I'm not much of a fan of Magnus and his Legion. This is a loose ends story. The events in it are important enough that they needed to be told but not in one of the "main" storyline books. By the time the book has ended Magnus, Ahriman and the rest are well on their way to being the bad guys they are in 40k. Some surprising side, and main, characters from previous books turn up to influence events. There are several big conversations that needed to be had in regards to the burning of Prospero. All in all I enjoyed this one. If you don't like the side stories that have delayed the HH and Seige this won't change your mind, but if you're a competionist like me and have stuck with this thing from the beginning and want to see stories finished then, enjoy.

The Khan is center stage in this one.
Revisado: 01-17-20
This is the third book I've read in the Primarchs series. The other two, Roboute Guilliman and Leman Russ, were the story of a campaign. In that context, we learned more about each Primarch. Jagataghi Khan stretches from the Khans initial time on Terra to the very beginning of the Chondax campaign more than a century later. The story is broken down into major events during that time frame making it a little disjointed. There isn't really an overarching story. The only common thread throughout, is the White Scars philosophical conflicts with the Imperium and their views regarding psykers and the Librarius. That being said the book is a lot of fun to read. Wraight focuses entirely on the Khan and his closest advisors. If, like me, you enjoyed his previous White Scars stories you'll enjoy this.

Chapter Master vs Assassin

As far as Black Library authors go, none of them write a better fight scene than Andy Smilie. Every blow is visceral and has weight behind it. Seth is written perfectly.

Terra in a new age
Revisado: 01-07-20
Chris Wraight has yet to let me down. Another great book. Watchers on the Throne is a great book for those just getting into the lore of Warhammer 40k following the events of A Gathering Storm.
Watchers of the Throne focuses on Terra during the universe shaking events on cadia covered in Gathering Storm. It is told from the perspectives of 3 characters. Valerian, a Shield-Captain of the Adeptus Custodes, Teiron, the Chancellor of the Senatorum Imperialis, more commonly known as the High Lords of Terra, and Aeyla, a sister of silence witchseeker. Each chapter in the book is told from a first person perspective of one of these three. Valerian's and Aelya's chapters spend a lot of the early book building the lore of their organizations. Both the Custodes and the Sisters have stepped away from the Imperium since the Horus Heresy and its interesting to see where this has led the two organizations. Teiron's chapters focus on the politics of the High Lords. His later chapters tell the story from the point of view of an unaugmented human in a battle between Demigods and demons.
I can't praise the narration of this audiobook enough. Black Libray has some great narrators working for them, and this book goes the extra mile. Each of the POV characters has a different narrator, which really helps immerse you in the story. Aelya especially benefits from this in having actual female narrator.

Reborn in body and spirit beneath Mount Deathfire, the primarch Vulkan gathers his most trusted sons and prepares for the final part of his journey. The Legions shattered at Isstvan V have stalled the Warmaster’s advance across the galaxy, but fresh cracks are spreading through the alliance between the Iron Hands, Salamanders and Raven Guard, along with mysterious rumours of the return of Ferrus Manus. Haunted by a sense of destiny unfulfilled, Vulkan must choose between joining their war of vengeance against the traitors and following his own barely understood path all the way to the Throneworld itself.

Lots of plot holes, and very unfocused
Revisado: 11-11-19
I've been reading the Horus Heresy since 2006, I've read all the main novels and most of the short stories. I haven't been a fan of Kyme's Salamanders books. I've found them to be riddled with plot wholes and inconsistencies, but since I've devoted so much time to this series and am a completionist, I read this and found alot of the same problems I had with Vulkan lives and Deathfire.
For starters this isn't just a Salamanders book, Shadrak Meduson and the Iron Hands along with their shattered legion allies take up almost half this book. If you haven't read the anthology Shattered Legions you will probably get nothing from this story. Meduson is all over the place sometimes cold and logical other times flying into a rage and throwing out all sense. The rest of the Iron hands, for lack of a better way to put this, suck. They are selfish cowards looking to hide from the fight and plotting to gain power. Their gambit to overthrow Meduson as Warleader is one of the dumbest, most nonsensical things I've read in the Heresy so far.
I have a job were I can throw on head phones while I work and spend a lot of time on the road so I have the time to listen to all the HH books. if you have to budget you're reading time I highly recommend skipping this one and finding a synopsis on the internet if you're curious about what happens.

Historia
Many are the sagas of Leman Russ, Lord of Winter and War, most fearsome of the Emperor's primarch sons. At the height of the Great Crusade, his Space Wolves fight to bring the rebel world of Dulan to compliance. Enraged by the defiance of the tyrant Durath, Russ has pledged to strike him down personally - but his brother Lion El'Jonson of the Dark Angels advises more caution. With the might of two Legions arrayed against Durath, tensions nevertheless run high, and the rivalry between the Wolf and the Lion threatens to engulf them all.

The story of one of the most epic slap fights
Revisado: 04-03-19
One of the better portrayals of Leman Russ and the HH era wolves. Both Russ and the Lion come across as awesome but flawed characters. I'm getting a little tired of the genetic flaw troupe coming up in so many horus heresy books but it's not the focus of the book. As usual for BL the narration is great.

Dante is Chapter Master of one of the noblest but most troubled Chapters of Space Marines in the Imperium: the Blood Angels. From the time of his birth in the rad-scarred wastes of Baal Secundus, he was destined for glory and strife. From his apotheosis to Scout, to the hive cities of Armageddon and the alien menace of the Cryptus system, Dante has waged war against all the enemies of the Imperium. He has witnessed the divine, and struggled against the darkness within all sons of Sanguinius.

A Great Blood Angels book
Revisado: 09-16-18
Gives a much deeper look into the Blood Angel's than we have gotten before. The book is split between the Aftermath of the Cryptus campaign, detailed in Sheild of Baal, and several important milestones in Dante's life most notably the BA selection process. Dante is front and center with little space devoted to any supporting characters. That being said, Haley does a great job with Dante showing his nobility and skill as a leader that is almost worshipped by those he commands and the inner toll this takes on him.
