Space marine stories moving forward not 10k in the past

Overall the stories are good to great. However I understand that women are just as good as men and that no one is allowed to say different but having a woman voice acting as a man is just bad. It takes you out of the story and frankly makes it unlistenable. It’s beyond cringe. Just have guys do the male parts and have the girls to the female parts. Honestly I doubt I’ll ever listen to this again.

Shame they hired one of the worst narrators

First the story is awesome and the author is awesome. Absolutely great series. Sadly they hired the worst narrator to read it. To go from Toby to this is embarrassing. Almost impossible to listen to without wanting to just skip it entirely.

Only problem is it’s over. Love Toby’s work and Abnett is perhaps the best author in GW’s arsenal. Need more Gaunt’s Ghosts stories.

Just gets better

Anarch continues the journey of Gaunt and his ghosts. I read the book then immediately got the audible version of it and I have to say that Toby Longworth reads the book to perfection. The voices are almost spot on with what was in my head. I hope he does more books in this line. As for the book itself? Well ends the story for a lot of the plots threads that have been building for years but it also creates new ones that I hope will be continued in more Ghost novels.

This is Star Wars as it was meant to be.

Timothy Zahn, in writing this book, rekindled the Star Wars universe. 30 years before Disney rebooted it Zahn took a beloved story that was in all honesty dead and breathed new life into it. He masterfully brought back all the heroes that we fell in love with and put them into the center of new galaxy spanning adventure. I truly can not say enough good thing about this series of books.

Maybe my expectations were too high...

Thrawn is great but.....

I’ve read everything that Zahn has written and Thrawn is by far my favorite character in Star Wars. This book does not disappoint. What I found lacking was the Anakin and Padame roles. Mark Thompson does most voices well save for those two. Padame came off as a 10 year old child and Anakin as a beach surfer bum. Neither are flattering. This last complaint is more a storytelling issue. The “double vision” stuff was annoying to no end.
Now for the good stuff. The story as a whole was well thought out and full of the Star Wars excitement you would expect from a seasoned author like Zahn. It nicely tied into the clone wars and the rebels eras and set up a ton of interesting story possibilities. Can’t wait for more.
