Historia
In 2009, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band performed at the Super Bowl's halftime show. The experience was so exhilarating that Bruce decided to write about it. That's how this extraordinary autobiography began. Over the past seven years, Bruce Springsteen has privately devoted himself to writing the story of his life, bringing to this audio the same honesty, humor, and originality found in his songs.

Converted!
Revisado: 03-31-21
Never listened to his music. Now, at 70, I can’t get enuf of him or Clarence!
His descriptions of NJ towns, people, teenage caste systems, and rock n roll nostalgia, are worthy of an award in sociological anthropology. His passion for music, surfing & studio perfection are so compelling I couldn’t get enough of his voice or story. The last few chapters focusing on his agonizing battles with depression & family reconciliation made me want to scream & holler. What a gift he has in both his lyrics and personal narratives.
If I can convince just one person to listen to his story, this revues will have been worth the time it took to write it!

The most lovingly detailed description of an elegant tailor meeting & measuring a client for a custom fitted suit. The whispered narration made it such a compelling listen!

Superb
Revisado: 07-03-20
This senior white lady was fully engrossed with every word. I will need to listen to again & again to absorb the endless definitions, explanations, examples and historical data. It made me feel the absolute responsibility to be actively ANTIracist vs the non racist I always considered myself to be. The ultimate passivity of that now makes me blush.
Wish it cd be required reading in every high school.
Knowing that the narrator was Ibrim Kendi himself made it all the more compelling.

Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Historia
"Incidents in the Life of a Slave Girl" was one of the first books to address the struggle for freedom by female slaves; explore their struggles with sexual harassment and abuse; and their effort to protect their roles as women and mothers. These memoirs tell the atrocious but true story of slavery in the United States until the Civil War. It is the personal history of Harriet Jacobs and her enslavement and following escape to the North, after spending seven years concealed in a crawlspace. The stunned listener also gets to know of the abuse of the other slaves.

Incredible Story
Revisado: 05-03-20
Only her eloquence made it possible for me to tolerate listening to the the many painful descriptions. Not only the physical tortures, but the malevolent emotional conundrums slaves had forced upon them by those in power.
A truly sad but remarkable story of survival and eventual triumph.
