Historia
Scotland Yard are anxious to find the killer and Inspector Rebus is drafted in to help. But his Scotland Yard opposite number, George Flight, isn't happy at yet more interference, and Rebus finds himself dealing with racial prejudice as well as the predations of a violent maniac. When Rebus is offered a serial killer profile of the Wolfman by an attractive female psychologist, it's too good an opportunity to miss.

A disappointing listen
Revisado: 09-16-12
I've read and enjoyed the Rebus novels over the years, but strangely enough, I don't recall reading this one. If I had, I probably wouldn't have bothered with the audiobook because I found the story quite weak in comparison to the other novels. What particularly disappointed me was the reader - the selection of Samuel Gillies for this novel just struck an entirely wrong note with me, to the point that it spoiled what enjoyment I could have got from the book. Overall, a disappointment and not a book I'd recommend to others.

Historia
The crime scene at St. Marguerite’s cathedral in New Orleans is shocking, even to seasoned detectives like Rick Bentz and Reuben Montoya. A novice nun named Sister Camille has been found dressed in a yellowed bridal gown and viciously garroted, her body covered with an altar cloth. Valerie Houston is devastated by her sister’s death. For weeks, she’d begged Camille to leave St. Marguerite’s, where she seemed determined to live as some kind of martyr. But Camille had a knack for making bad choices....

Gothic novel
Revisado: 03-26-12
I'm afraid this book was a struggle to listen to, although no fault is attached to the reader. The blame lies squarely at the feet of the author, who appears to have thought she was writing a take-off of a gothic novel. The writing was full of so many examples of over-dramatisation that it's impossible to pick just one on which to comment. The story held just enough twists to keep me listening to the end, but I'm afraid that there is no way I could recommend this book to anyone with a love of the English language.

Historia
Detective Inspector Charlie Resnick doesn't like what he sees. A doctor's muscles were deliberately slashed to cause long-term damage; damage that will prevent him from becoming a surgeon. Evidence points to a personal grudge, until a spate of similar attacks leaves Resnick looking for a killer. Frantically trying to stem the panic that's spreading throughout the city, he soon discovers that there is such a thing as having too many clues.

A complete disappointment
Revisado: 06-09-11
I thoroughly enjoy all John Harvey's writing. I've listened to some of his novels on audiobook before and haven't been disappointed, but I am struggling to get through this one. The narrator is absolutely atrocious. He has no ability with accents, there is absolutely no hint that he has any clue about the personality or backgrounds of the characters he is meant to be portraying and even his narrative reading is depressingly bad. What a waste of a good book.
