If I was unfamiliar with WWII history, this would have been far more interesting. But for me there was little new information, and that was the vast majority of the book.

The conspiracy that was supposed to be the subject of the book was given scant attention, while vast sections were spent on unrelated issues. The conspiracy and its back story could have been told in less than half the time and probably produced a more gripping story. But this wasn't gripping story.

I was totally enjoying the read about a time I knew a bit about, and it filled in a lot of gaps but there were some areas I felt the author bent over backwards to either protect the Roman Catholic Church or to avoid litigation.

When he claimed there hadn't been historic antisemitism in the Church was the first howler. Jews were expelled from large parts of Europe if not by direct order of the Church, with its total approval.

In the book's conclusion, the author's claim the fascist tendencies that continue today are limited to militia groups but they have no religious overtones was the final nail. "Jews will not replace us" wasn't a hint? Attacks on reproductive health centers & synagogs are approved and planned by these militias, and one major party uses religious tests for legislation and judicial appointments. Not sure why the punches were pulled, but they were and credibility waned.

Made it through several chapters expecting an unbiased examination of the life of Melania Trump, but it is clear the author has ignored anything but support for her adoration.

She's presented as an independent genius with no actual evidence other than her current husband not yelling at her.

If you're a member of the the MAGA-cult, this is for you. if you have a triple-digit IQ, pass on by.

Over half the book is about the adulterous love affairs of the US Ambassador's daughter who was at best a massive security risk but more likely an asset at various times of the Soviets and Nazis. Her father was too absorbed about writing a Confederate apologist's take on the American Civil war and cutting costs of the administrative staff to give much thought to his actual duties at this crucial time.

The time frame of the book is 1933-1935 so covers only the very earliest days of Hitler's Berlin. Not scary all that scary, especially for the American family who seemed to take their time there as a bit of a lark.

If you've not read other writing on this criminal administration, this is a decent place to start. But if you are at all familiar with its history then this book falls well short of the mark. I've already read all the works they've referenced, which go into far greater detail on the various subjects this book tries to cover.

It lost me entirely when the authors claimed George W Bush did not lie about WMD because the intelligence agencies told him they existed. The problem was the intelligence agencies told him they were not likely there.

Returning this book for something in more depth.

listening to the various voices enhanced the documentary feeling. you won't regret listening. I wonder if Audible knows how oppressive a 15 word minimum is

Mr Ferraro may be a good choice for Mickey Spillane type mysteries, but he was a bad choice here. He is unable to pronounce some common racing names like "Claiborne" (he says Clear-born). His gruff voice sounds bored most of the time, and tired.

The story of the horse, its owner, and the theft is an interesting one, but needs a better author and narrator. The author jumped all over the place in time, then from one crackpot conspiracy to another. Even after the actual criminals were identified, the author went on present other outlandish ideas, even to claim "remote viewing" was real. It is not.

Returned it with an hour left unheard because it was too painful to continue. A very good opportunity wasted by the author and narrator.

That seems to be his theme, clarity be damned. There are better books on the subject.
