Overall I liked the book however it wasn't exactly what I expected. I, like Nick Offerman am an avid outdoorsman. I greatly enjoy camping, fishing, hiking and hunting. I firmly believe in his assertions throughout this book regarding the unsustainable nature of most practices that are commonplace within the realm of industrial agriculture. However, there were multiple instances in which our thoughts on various subjects differed. I would have been fine with that were it not for his insistence on suggesting my beliefs weren't just a difference in opinion but that I am in fact a moron for them.

This could have been a more productive book by my way of thinking had he stuck to it and added humor throughout...but that isn't what he did. He seemed to clearly be speaking to those he would consider "his people". I have zero problem with his opinion, in fact there were several instances he swayed me toward his. However he immediately lost me when he suggested I was an idiot for believing them in the first place. He had an opportunity to really change people but missed it by continually calling them stupid. Its a shame really.

I did enjoy the core of the book and I did laugh many times throughout. Sadly though I think many of the people who needed to get through the book most (Republicans) probably won't finish it. What good does it do if everyone who finishes the book already subscribes to the beliefs you're selling?

The book is very funny and a great adventure. William Dufris does a fantastic job of bringing each character to life. Highly recommended.

The narration is very good however there were a handful of times when accents of characters bled into one another. I won't fault the narrator too much here as overall his performance was fantastic. The original horror novel and a great rendition.

Andy Weir is sort of the Dan Brown of SciFi

I say Andy Weir is the Dan Brown of Sci-fi because he has the ability to incorporate a vast amount of real science into his fiction just as Dan Brown uses real history in his. The chemistry and physics that take place (Although I'm no scientist) are believable, even as outlandish as the scenario may be. You find yourself rooting for the protagonist and just when you think her predicament can't get anymore dire he somehow brings you further to the edge of your seat. Rosario Dawson's narration of the book is fantastic. She puts on accents to play several characters so you always know who is doing the talking and I never found myself bored with her reading. It's like an audible movie playing out before you. I highly recommend this book, especially if you enjoyed The Martian also by Andy Weir. Enjoy!
