Historia
Skillfully weaving science, history, exemplars, poetry, and quotes with stories and practices, Wheatley asks us to be warriors for the human spirit, leaders and citizens who stay engaged, choose service over self, stand steadfast in the midst of crises, and offer our reliable presence of compassion and insight no matter what.

The lifespan of an empire
Revisado: 07-16-24
I appreciated this author’s Description of how empires have collapsed in the past. It was an easy reach to compare today in our society. It was the best book I have listened to on this issue.

Historia
Women can be heroes. When twenty-year-old nursing student Frances “Frankie” McGrath hears these words, it is a revelation. Raised in the sun-drenched, idyllic world of Southern California and sheltered by her conservative parents, she has always prided herself on doing the right thing. But in 1965, the world is changing, and she suddenly dares to imagine a different future for herself. When her brother ships out to serve in Vietnam, she joins the Army Nurse Corps and follows his path.

A complex portrayal of a complex war.
Revisado: 07-12-24
I think she captured the complexity and mixed emotions that surrounded the Vietnam war. And to Center on the role of the women who were in the war was a bonus. Once I began listening, I could not put it down.
