Historia
Just a generation ago this place was called America. Now, after the worldwide implementation of UN-lead program called Agenda 21, it's simply known as the 'Republic'. There is no president. No congress. No Supreme Court. No freedom. There are only the Authorities. Citizens have two primary goals in the new Republic: to create clean energy and to create new human life. Those who cannot do either are of no use to society. This bleak and barren existence is all that 18-year-old Emmeline has ever known.

It could have been better.
Revisado: 12-01-12
Is there anything you would change about this book?
It moved very slowly. I did not get a real feel for the world that Beck was trying to create.
What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)
The book plodded along toward the ending so I was happy when it came. As far as what actually happened at the end, I was not suprised based on the tempo if the book.
Was Agenda 21 worth the listening time?
For me, it was worth the time but it was not a very long book. It was very easy to stop listening and I found that, at times, I really did not want to turn it back on again.
Any additional comments?
Over all I did like the book but I did not enjoy it as much as I thought I would. My take on this book is that it was a re-telling of Anthem by Ayn Rand (which I read many years ago and loved). That may be the reason for my two star score for the story told here. Rand told this type of story well. Beck's book may be more important due to the actual Agenda 21 document. But I feel he could have told a better story. The afterword was interesting. I downloaded the Agenda 21 document, I may even read it one day.

Excellent Production
Revisado: 07-10-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Star Wars: Heir to the Empire (20th Anniversary Edition) to be better than the print version?
I think the story was good and it was fun to hear about characters that I loved as a kid again. The real strength of this book was the narrator. I enjoy books that play music and have sound effects and this book had it all. Great sound effects and the voices, except for Leia, were spot on. It was easy to get lost in this production. It was very well done.
Any additional comments?
I took a chance on this book because it was newly produced and it was not abridged. Most of the star wars books I have seen have always been abridged and I have never been interested in abridged books, I don't think an abridged book tells the story that an author wants told. This was a gamble that paid off and I will be finishing the Thrawn trilogy.

Historia
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

Stranger Than Fiction meets Galexy Quest
Revisado: 06-19-12
What was one of the most memorable moments of Redshirts?
There is a moment when one of the crew members brings up a hologram of the Starship Enterprise and tries to explain what is going on with the crew of the ship in this story (the Intrepid). It's well written and it's very funny.
Which scene was your favorite?
I'm not sure that any one part of this book is my favorite. There are parts that are funny, there are parts that are sad, and there are parts that are just insane. Put this all together and you get a John Scalzi book that is very creative and, of course, very funny.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
Please don't make this movie, it would be too confusing.
Any additional comments?
If you liked Stranger Than Fiction, you will like this and of course Wil Wheaton is great but there is more to this story than a simple funny spaceship story. Scalzi makes sure to finish this story. He covers things that you may not think need to be covered but, turns out, they did, and he does.

Historia
In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue - Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is - she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

It's a good story but it's not Ender meets Katness
Revisado: 05-12-12
Who was your favorite character and why?
It's pretty much about Triss and Four right? Who else could you pick?
What does Emma Galvin bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?
There is a lot to be said for a young sounding female voice being used to voice a young female character. Galvin did a really good job I thought. I did struggle with following some of the conversations though. Sometimes her voices for the characters sounded similar.
Any additional comments?
I got this because it had some interesting comparisons with books I liked, specifically Enders Game, and the Hunger Games. I'm thinking I don't really agree with those comparisons but this was also a good story.

Fun and funny
Revisado: 05-11-12
Would you listen to Agent to the Stars again? Why?
Yes I would. Scalzi seems to have fun with the story and Wil Wheaton is an excellent narrator.
What does Wil Wheaton bring to the story that you wouldn???t experience if you just read the book?
I think Wil Wheaton is a great narrator. I have enjoyed most of what he has done and selected Scalzi because Wheaton was the narrator. Based on this book, I also listened to Androids Dream and Fuzzy Nation. They were also good. If you like light hearted sci-fi (why would you not) then give Scalzi a shot.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
I don't think this book is about being moved by the story or sentiment. It's an amusement park ride. That was what was offered in the blurb and that was what was delivered in the pages (so to speak).

Nick Corey is a terrible sheriff on purpose. He doesn't solve problems, enforce rules or arrest criminals. He knows that nobody in tiny Potts County actually wants to follow the law and he is perfectly content lazing about, eating five meals a day, and sleeping with all the eligible women. Still, Nick has some very complex problems to deal with. Two local pimps have been sassing him, ruining his already tattered reputation.

I'm not sure what I expected, but it was not that
Revisado: 05-11-12
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would, depending on the friend. The performance was good and the story was different. The story did lag in parts but, it did entertain. I have listened to worse.
Would you be willing to try another book from Jim Thompson? Why or why not?
Yes I would, this was an audible recommendation. I may read a little more about the author before I give him another listen though.
Was Pop. 1280 worth the listening time?
I think it was. The performance was quality and the story was interesting enough to stick with. It was worth the time.

Fun!
Revisado: 05-06-12
Would you listen to Ready Player One again? Why?
I have listened to this Book twice. It's great fun. Wil Wheaton is excellent.
What about Wil Wheaton???s performance did you like?
He is able to tell this story from the perspective of someone that watched, played, and read the media from the 80's.
Any additional comments?
This may not hold the appeal of someone that did not go through the 80's as a kid, but if you did, you will love it.

Coben does suspense well
Revisado: 04-30-12
Would you consider the audio edition of Stay Close to be better than the print version?
Scott Brick makes the audio version entertaining as usual.
If you???ve listened to books by Harlan Coben before, how does this one compare?
This was a good story, well read by Brick. I always like the Myron bolitar books most but this was good. Just not great, I guess I struggled to care about any of the cast.
What about Scott Brick???s performance did you like?
He is one of the best. He always does believeable voices.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No, I was ale to listen a little bit each day. It was easy to put down. It was good but not great.

Historia
On November 22, 1963, three shots rang out in Dallas, President Kennedy died, and the world changed. What if you could change it back? In this brilliantly conceived tour de force, Stephen King - who has absorbed the social, political, and popular culture of his generation more imaginatively and thoroughly than any other writer - takes listeners on an incredible journey into the past and the possibility of altering it.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
I would and I have. It's a Stephen King novel so the story is well told and it moves along.
Who was your favorite character and why?
No one character was my favorite. It was all of the characters and their development that made this a great listen.
Have you listened to any of Craig Wasson???s other performances before? How does this one compare?
I will look for other reads by Wasson but I have not herd anything he has done before.
