Historia
The philosopher asks: "Faced with the mutually exclusive choice between moral principle and the survival of your family, which is the correct path?" Philosophers love to pose such questions, and in the day-to-day struggle, such thinkers rarely attain to a level of relevance rivaling that of the simple hunger pang. Their careful considerations dissipate under the leveled gun. We do not feel their disapproving gaze when The Others draw near. When the world sends doom, the survivors do not hesitate. The survivors do what is necessary.

One book too long
Revisado: 06-17-19
I have really enjoyed the commune series. Book one used an interesting means of giving the back story. Book 3 was good but felt incomplete. The author stated in an audio clip he had too much to wrap the trilogy in three books. His editor should have challenged this. Book four was a boring and endless slog. Book 3 and 4 should have been combined into a much pithier story.

Berry misses the mark
Revisado: 08-20-13
I have listened to the entire Cotton Malone series from Steve Berry and looked forward to the next installment. I enjoy the interweaving of a historical narrative with a modern adventure. However, this book is simply ponderous. Though I normally enjoy Scott Brick, in this reading he sounds like a bored history professor. Overall, I would recommend the other books in the series and skip this one.

A great listen

Where does The Palace of Illusions rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This book is a fascinating piece of Indian fiction. It is a complex and interwoven story. Given the complexity, this may be a better read than listen unless you can really devote your attention to the story and the characters. The reader is great. Certainly a very enjoyable listen.

A bit forced
Revisado: 07-30-12
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I am a fan of the Decker/Lazarus novels. However, this most recent installment follows the trend of the last few. The story is quite forced and Lazarus has been assigned the role of window dressing. I would recommend this to the dedicated fans but for a new comer, listen to the early books, they are much better.

Inaudible Audiobook
Revisado: 08-17-10
My taste is audiobooks is wide ranging. However, I have two requirements, a good reader (though I will be flexible on this) and good audio quality. I have listened to well over 100 books from Audible.com and have never, until now, had a problem with requirement #2. However, even in enhanced format this an inaudible audiobook. I really tried but could not stay with the recording because of the poor quality. Listen to the sample before committing to your purchase.
