Historia
The construction of the world's first truly accurate clock starts a race against, well, time. For if the perfect clock starts ticking, Time, as we know it, will stop. And then the trouble will really begin. Subtle, sly, thought-provoking, and hilarious, Thief of Time is Terry Pratchett at his best. "This delightful production keeps the listener spellbound," says AudioFile.

Distracting performance with poor sound
Revisado: 10-19-22
Looking forward to a better performance. This one has many serious defects. The vocal characterizations are poor in comparison with other Discworld audio book performances. At one point the voices seem like a segment was re-recorded with different people. The pacing is also slow. Ultimately I enjoyed the story, but it is the least treasured of my pratchett collection.

Historia
Sent by the French government to examine the American prison system, Alexis de Tocqueville spent nine months touring the United States between 1831 and 1832. However, fascinated by the success of America's democratic system, de Tocqueville took advantage of his stay to examine the country's foundations and glean ideas that might rescue his homeland from the manacles of social inequality. He leaves no stone unturned, exploring each branch of government, the constitution, economics, religion, race, the judiciary, laws, principles, education, culture, and views on wealth and poverty.

Amazing book!
Revisado: 09-09-21
This book is so full of incisive observations that it warrants periodic rereading. I found the performance to be good but not great. The narrator’s voice and cadence worked for me, but I would have liked greater energy and tonal emphasis that matched the relative importance of the concepts being presented. It is a very long work and a slightly more emphatic performance would be welcome.

Went on too long
Revisado: 04-27-21
This was a parody concept that relied on puns and pop culture references. At best worthy of the occasional chuckle. Went on far too long.

Stephenson in love???
Revisado: 02-22-20
Having just finished binging on the baroque cycle, Fall, Cryptonomicon, and Reamde, I was looking for more Neal Stephenson. I was sorely disappointed. In fact I hate this book, because the only similarity it shares with the creative, sophisticated, funny works that he actually wrote is his name on the cover. I declare this work a fraud. If you enjoy reading Neal Stephenson this fake will deeply disappoint you. I recognize that he supposedly co-wrote this book, but I found no evidence of his hand in the work.
