Historia
The British-based Anglo-Lassertan Mineral Company finds itself in hot water its engineer, Alan Ottershaw, hits and kills a pedestrian while driving in a foreign country - a nation with thick veins of the strategically important mineral querremitte. This country has draconian laws about killings, so Ottershaw is relieved when he's whisked back to Calleshire. Bur the Lassertan government threatens to strip the company of its most valuable contract, and poor Mr. Ottershaw dies suddenly, a very convenient solution. A little too convenient, if you ask Calleshire detective C. D. Sloan.

Enjoyable police procedural
Revisado: 06-15-24
Aird’s perceptive plot and dialogue are always enjoyable. The ending/denouement was a little strained, but I still love anything she writes. The reader is outstanding.

I loved the Lord Windrunner books when I read them, but Ian Carmichael really brings them to life. The range of voices and accents is astounding!

Pure Joy, Read by the Man Himself!
Revisado: 08-15-23
Mel Brooks goes into enjoyable detail about his entire life. Some moments were laugh-out-loud, while others were surprisingly poignant. All in all, great fun. I enjoy his movies even better now, knowing how they came to be. It’s a long listen, but I hated for it to end!

Historia
When copywriter Victor Dean falls to his death on the stairs of Pym's Advertising Agency, everyone assumes it was an unfortunate accident. His replacement doesn't think so and begins asking a lot of questions. The new man is something of a mystery to his colleagues, and he certainly dresses well considering his meagre writer's salary.

As a Copywriter, i Really Enjoyed It
Revisado: 08-15-23
I’ve worked in advertising, and while the technology has changed, I was amused to recognize attitudes and banter that span the decades. I’d read the book before, but the dramatization gave the story extra animation, even if the mystery solution was a bit bland. Lord Peter is always fun.

As Ever, Classic Hamish
Revisado: 07-03-21
I always enjoy a Hamish story, especially when narrated my Graeme Malcom. One detail: The phrase, “a time to love and a time to die” is nowhere in Corinthians. I believe it’s the title of a book and movie in the 50’s. The closest thing in the Bible is Ecclesiastes.

Historia
When a local woman tells Sergeant Hamish Macbeth that she doesn't remember what happened the previous evening, he doesn't begin to worry. She had been out drinking, after all, and he'd prefer not to be bothered with such an arrogant and annoying woman. But when her body is discovered, Hamish is forced to investigate a crime that the only known witness - now dead - had forgotten.

Who would want to kill a nun? That was the problem facing Inspector C.D. Sloan of the Berebury CID when the body of Sister Anne was found at the foot of the cellar steps at the Convent of St Anselm. Sloan soon found that interviewing half a hundred black-habited sisters as potential suspects for murder was no easy task - especially when he realised that, to him, one nun looked very much like the next, and every sister had an assumed name - and a past...

At the heart of Mary Higgins Clark's stunning new novel of suspense is a brutal murder: that of Gary Lasch, a respected and successful young Greenwich, Connecticut, doctor and hospital and HMO head. He was found dead at his desk at home, his skull crushed by a blow with a Remington bronze sculpture, a prized piece from his art collection. The news strikes Greenwich society like a thunderbolt - as does the news that Molly Carpenter Lasch, the doctor's young wife, has been arrested for her husband's murder.
