From the very beginning, this book spoke right to my heart. So many great points and topics to help the reader better understand, strategies, and techniques to overcome, ideas, and inspiration for moving forward.
Highly recommend.
I will use this book in my practice as a life coach.

Here are the three things the Sullivan family knows to be true: the Chicago Cubs will always be the underdogs; historical progress is inevitable; and their grandfather, Bud, founder of JP Sullivan’s, will always make the best burgers in Oak Park. But when, over the course of three strange months, the Cubs win the World Series, Trump is elected president, and Bud drops dead, suddenly everyone in the family finds themselves doubting all they hold dear.

Family Time

This was a sweet story of a Chicagoland family who owns a popular local restaurant. The story nicely portrays the lives of the upcoming generation while weaving in the founding generation.
Thoroughly easy read, great for vacation or an overtaxed brain.

Kitty Harris has it all: cosily coupled up with boyfriend Archie, she’s putting in the hours at an ad agency to land her dream job. OK, so maybe they’ve become a bit too comfortable in their routine, with pizza night every Thursday, and maybe the agency isn’t so much up-and-coming as been-and-gone, but Kitty is happy. Until one diamond ring sitting pretty in her pepperoni ruins everything. Kitty does NOT want to get married, not after being caught in the crosshairs of her parent’s destructive divorce.

After a long and eventful life, Allan Karlsson ends up in a nursing home, believing it to be his last stop. The only problem is that he's still in good health, and in one day, he turns 100. A big celebration is in the works, but Allan really isn't interested (and he'd like a bit more control over his vodka consumption). So he decides to escape. He climbs out the window in his slippers and embarks on a hilarious and entirely unexpected journey, involving, among other surprises, a suitcase stuffed with cash.

Too hard to follow
Revisado: 10-05-23
I wanted something with some intrigue that was interesting enough and easy to follow. This was not it for me. The narrator was great. Moved far too slowly. I quit reading half way through. I never throw in the towel that far in.

If you're constantly feeling on edge, forever working to appease your spouse to little avail and feel like you're constantly being chipped away at with their abusive behavior, then I can understand how emotionally shattering it feels to live this way. If, in the same breath, it breaks your heart to even consider leaving them because you can't imagine life without them, then I can understand that feeling too - because I was trauma bonded to my abusive ex.

Good Story
Revisado: 04-30-23
While I found the story to be engaging, I found it difficult to enjoy because of the narrator’s soft and wispy style of speaking. Usually it would put me into nap. Mood within 15 minutes of listening.
The story itself was really interesting, and may be one that is common for many families in, or from, from Cuba. I always enjoy historical fiction.

What a Great Help!
Revisado: 04-18-23
The most helpful tools I’ve encountered have come from this author. Her online support group and Facebook page helped me realize that I’m not nuts!
Fortunately for me, my confidence was never lost but it did fade during a period and she reminded me to rise and shine once again.
Being in a toxic relationship where crazy-making behaviors are de riguer, feel comforted knowing it’s NOT you….it’s the other person.
Great read—better have a pen and notebook handy.

Historia
Lina Meisel, a retired librarian in Florida, is reading the newspaper one morning when she freezes. Her eyes lock on a photograph of a book she hasn’t seen in 65 years - a book she recognizes as The Book of Lost Names. The accompanying article discusses the looting of libraries by the Nazis across Europe during World War II - an experience Lina remembers well - and the search to reunite people with the texts stolen from them so long ago. The book in the photograph is one of the most fascinating cases.

Loved this historical fiction novel!
Revisado: 02-11-23
Well written and engaging to the max. I love this era of history, and found myself sucked in from the very first page. It is my hope that teachers might consider sharing it with their students in history class. It brings such vivid life to the many untold stories of the resistance. Well, I will not give away anything, the ending left me in tears. Very well done! I will read it another of this author’s books, if there are any more.
