The omnibus edition of Prepper's Crucible is a compilation of the first three books of the series. It begins when our group of preppers flee Phoenix, Arizona, in route to their ranch in Prescott, in the wake of an EMP that wipes out all power, transportation, and telecommunications networks. Once there, they hunker down until the threat of violence forces them to defend themselves and their neighbors. In a series of battles, culminating with and attack on the town by over 200 gang members, they manage to survive the first month following the EMP.

A fantastic dystopian series

I enjoyed the books and Kevin Pierce did an amazing job, as usual. Beware the next set of books are narrated by a different narrator and it is intolerable. I couldn’t listen to the second set at all so I am left wondering how it all turned out..

I wasn’t sure what to expect with this book, but I knew I loved the narrator so I gave it a try. My only disappointment came when I finished the book and found out there wasn’t a second one...yet.
The story kept me listening and the characters were well developed, so much so you actually want to see where their stories go.
The story didn’t focus on the apocalypse as much as most books like this do, instead it was more about the people and how they act in these situations.
Barb is a bada$$ and Ragus went from annoying to admirable, and Conner stayed the same from page 1 to the end. Loved it!

WHY DID THEY CHANGE NARRATORS?!?

I love this series, the characters, and the story....but why did they change the narrator?!? I have grown accustomed to Jennifer as the many voices of the characters and the new narrator cannot do them justice. This story had so much potential but much is lost due to the change in narrators. She’s a fine narrator but to change after 3 books was a bad idea. Kinda ruined it for me. So sad.
