Historia
Spanning the years 1900 to 1977, The Covenant of Water is set in Kerala, on South India’s Malabar Coast, and follows three generations of a family that suffers a peculiar affliction: in every generation, at least one person dies by drowning—and in Kerala, water is everywhere. At the turn of the century, a twelve-year-old girl from Kerala’s long-existing Christian community, grieving the death of her father, is sent by boat to her wedding, where she will meet her forty-year-old husband for the first time.

Great story for physicians
Revisado: 06-24-23
I very much enjoyed this book. While Dr. Verghese does not fully master the range of voices a practiced actor might, his voice is soothing and it is wonderful to hear him read his own work. A thoroughly enjoyable listen!

Mystery loving physician
Revisado: 11-03-15
As a physician, I enjoy reading mysteries with medical themes even though The scientific errors can be irritating. This book, while a bit sappy and predictable in the romance area, is otherwise suspenseful and entertaining. The performance is excellent.

Complex story line
Revisado: 10-20-15
Challenging to follow at times and, while I'm not a sci fi reader/fan, i think it has some sci-fi like futuristic vs magical realism character to it. It comes together in the end and I enjoyed the story as well as the performance.
