Historia
Whether you are seeing a doctor, a nutritionist, or a trainer, all of them advise eating more protein. Foods, drinks, and supplements are loaded with extra protein. Many people use protein for weight control while others believe it gives them more energy. Now, weight loss expert Dr. Garth Davis asks, "Is all this protein making us healthier?" The answer, he emphatically argues, is no.

Based on Evidence
Revisado: 01-06-25
I have been reading nutrition books for 40 years. In the last ten years, the nutrition wars have become very confusing. Garth Davis does such a great job of clarifying what the science of countless studies have shown. I have been a vegetarian on and off for years but always felt like I had to eat meat or dairy to get enough protein. No more! I now feel free to enjoy beautiful fruit, fresh vegetables, whole grains and legumes, without stressing over protein. And I don’t even have to combine foods like I read in Diet for a Small Planet in 1975. Thank you Mr. Davis for explaining the completeness and benefits of a Plant Based Diet. And thank you for making it available for free!

Historia
It’s 2006. After a string of rejections from men who tell her they could never, ever, ever see her “that way,” awkward third-grade teacher Micaela Blei signs up for a mysterious course called “The Divine Feminine,” and feels like she might have found the key to the perfect life. Turns out if you’re an A student, you can get an A in anything–including men. Pretty soon she’s learning to "conjure" her desires with vision boards, flirtations, and even a daring jumbotron viewing party for her, ahem ... "divine center."

Micaela’s Brutal Honesty
Revisado: 12-14-24
Thank you Micaela for writing with so much honesty and humor. I could so relate to her story. She shares the pain and heartbreak of rejection from men and not being the body type or look that most men want, and the humor of going after what her “P” wants. I hope she writes more books.

Casey Wilson has a lot on her mind and she isn’t afraid to share. In this dazzling collection, each essay skillfully constructed and brimming with emotion, she shares her thoughts on the joys and vagaries of modern-day womanhood and motherhood, introduces the not-quite-typical family that made her who she is, and persuasively argues that lowbrow pop culture is the perfect lens through which to examine human nature.

When Notes on a Silencing hit bookstores in the summer of 2020, even amidst a global pandemic, it sent shockwaves through the country. Not only did this intimate investigative memoir usher in a media storm of coverage, but it also prompted the elite St. Paul's School to issue a formal apology to the author, Lacy Crawford, for its handling of her report of sexual assault by two fellow students nearly 30 years ago.

Powerful and Necessary
Revisado: 07-02-21
This book is a beautifully written account of a devastating assault on a 15 year-old-girl, and the aftermath. I am not a victim of such a blatant sexual assault, but like Lacy, I am a victim of contracting herpes from a sexual encounter, and the shame and devastation that goes with it. Thank you for sharing your story.

Inspiring, Interesting, and Indelible!
Revisado: 06-25-20
I have read nutrition books all my life, beginning with Diet for a Small Planet in 1974. But, this is by far the best I have ever read. A few months ago I decided that I was done with being overweight, having chronic leg and back pain and painful neuropathy in my foot. I started exercising every day and following this plant based diet. I am already feeling better, losing weight and excited to discover muscles that have been in hibernation for years. Thank you Dr Greger and I love your cookbook! Age 64

Well written journey of her life so far. Good for you Jessica for climbing out of your rock bottom and doing the hard work to restore your health and happiness. I think your own narration was fine. I don’t know why people assume the emotions were fake as you read hard parts. I think you were just in touch with the raw feelings of emotional memories. Your beautiful heart shone through!

The New Uncle Tom’s Cabin
Revisado: 10-03-19
I believe that this beautifully written memoir will do for the crime of sexual assault, what Uncle Tom’s Cabin did to end slavery. By letting readers walk in Chanel’s shoes, I hope no one will view sexual assault the same way...hopefully men will better understand the grave and lasting consequences of sexual assault, and women and men who have been assaulted, will not only speak out, but be listened to, and believed, and respected. I hope that this book becomes required reading in every high school. It would help young men think twice before taking advantage of any woman, intoxicated or not. Thank you Chanel! I am sorry you had to go through what you did, but you have used your experience to shine a light on this all too common crime. Thank God for the two Swedish bicyclist who were able to stop Brock and capture him. I am a reading teacher and an avid reader, and I loved listening to your articulate and poignant memoir. I hope you will still will write children’s books someday. You are a gifted writer!

Truly a Good Story :)
Revisado: 12-04-17
Would you listen to The Frontiersman's Daughter again? Why?
I enjoyed this historical fiction story set in Kentucky. My only complaint is the overuse of the word truly. By the end of the book, it made me laugh every time I heard it. Otherwise a great story. The narrator was too breathy for my liking but otherwise did a good job. Worth listening too and a great message, but would someone please count the number of times they hear, truly, and let me know:)
