Historia
One year after the death of his beloved musician father, thirteen-year-old Benny Oh begins to hear voices. The voices belong to the things in his house—a sneaker, a broken Christmas ornament, a piece of wilted lettuce. Although Benny doesn't understand what these things are saying, he can sense their emotional tone; some are pleasant, a gentle hum or coo, but others are snide, angry and full of pain. When his mother, Annabelle, develops a hoarding problem, the voices grow more clamorous.

Story has residual and I’m still remembering parts as I navigate life. I had to take breaks, as many moments rang true to myself, my children and the students I teach. Reader was able to hold many voices and personalities in the storytelling.

Historia
In a discontented kingdom, civil war is brewing. To unify the divided people, Conner, a nobleman of the court, devises a cunning plan to find an impersonator of the king's long-lost son and install him as a puppet prince. Four orphans are recruited to compete for the role, including a defiant boy named Sage. Sage knows that Conner's motives are more than questionable, yet his life balances on a sword's point - he must be chosen to play the prince or he will certainly be killed. But Sage's rivals have their own agendas as well.

Historia
The fourth book in the NYT best-selling Expanse series, Cibola Burn sees the crew of the Rocinante on a new frontier, as the rush to colonize the new planets threatens to outrun law and order and give way to war and chaos. Enter a new frontier. "An empty apartment, a missing family, that's creepy. But this is like finding a military base with no one on it. Fighters and tanks idling on the runway with no drivers. This is bad juju. Something wrong happened here. What you should do is tell everyone to leave".

Reader makes these books amazing
Revisado: 07-11-21
As someone who enjoys audio books so much because my commute is so long and I get to listen to the books that broaden my horizon. It also makes washing dishes and cleaning the house so much more enjoyable. The artist who voices these books is amazing. He can take on so many personas and bring each character to life. Thank you for hours of joy.

Historia
Meet Ove. He’s a curmudgeon—the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness. So when one November morning a chatty young couple with two chatty young daughters move in next door and accidentally flatten Ove’s mailbox, it is the lead-in to a comical and heartwarming tale of unkempt cats, unexpected friendship, and the ancient art of backing up a U-Haul.

Kindness comes in many ways, one has to give it to get it. This story is one of love and tolerance, making it abundantly clear that we all have love that needs to be fostered and fed.

Historia
Two-thirds of us have experienced at least one adverse childhood experience, or ACE, such as abuse, neglect, parental substance dependence, or mental illness. Even though these events may have occurred long ago, they have the power to haunt us long into adulthood, and now we have found that they may even contribute to lifelong illness. Dr. Nadine Burke Harris, the founder/CEO of the Center for Youth Wellness and recipient of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism in Medicine Award, expands on similar topics as in her popular TED talk.

Interesting story, great narration.
Revisado: 07-31-18
Protagonist is a person with integrity, needed commodity right now. Narrator does a great job of capturing the emotions of the characters without being cheesy. I read this book many years ago and I’m enjoying listening to it because there are so many subtle details the author included to cause the reader to think about human decisions. He discusses humanity in the same way that Star Trek does with the character Data. With A.I. becoming a big part of this century, The authors intriguing inquiry is even more relevant today than when the book was first written.

In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

So important
Revisado: 06-03-17
Trevor Noah tells a compelling story that comes at a time where the parallels of discrimination or being mirrored in America. As we grapple with equity it is clear there is a long way to go. This book was best listened to because Trevor demonstrates his tremendous ability with languages and it is presented in a way that feels genuine and honest. I hope to share many of the stories with my students discuss Civics.
