Historia
I knocked up my best friend's sister. Let's start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news...together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting, and then bam! I'm going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist. Threats were tossed around, friendships were revoked, and then I was marched up to her apartment, suitcases in hand, and forced to live with her so I could take care of her every need. Now I'm finding it harder and harder not to fall for my best friend's little sister.

Too long
Revisado: 11-26-24
There were some brief humorous moments but oh my god did they draw things out. And at 90 minutes left, they had Penny turn into a crazy, whiny, accusation-spewing, mean person. It was ridiculous and so hard to get through but I'm a glutton for punishment. Not worth the credit imo.

Just what I needed
Revisado: 11-10-24
This book is sweet, touching, and got me thinking. I lost my mom last month and listening to this multigenerational community of people and their love for one another just hit right. Narration was wonderful. The tone of this book was not too much and not too little. It was just right.

Miss Clara Marie Stanton's family may be eccentric, but they certainly aren't insane. London, England, 1860: When Clara's ex-fiancé begins to spread rumors that her family suffers from hereditary insanity, it's all she can do to protect them from his desperate schemes, society's prejudice, and a lifetime in an asylum. Fun but lots of praying
Revisado: 09-21-24
Pretty fun adventure. A bit slow moving. When they first started mentioning prayer I thought it was simply part of the makeup of the characters. But geez, that last quarter of the book, the author laid it on pretty thick. Too much. Lost sight of the story with it all. Still fun but the creativity of the characters was taken over by giving it up to God ideology.

Lots o' drama
Revisado: 03-13-24
Narration was pretty good although I thought the female narrator's take on a male voice was a bit distracting. I stuck with it but there were moments when I felt like OK enough is enough. A lot of extra drama. if you've read any other books in this series, then you know it's part of the gig.

Historia
If Renn Brewer would’ve asked me to marry him, I would’ve said no. Why? One, his reputation precedes him. His name is in the headlines at least once a month. Two, he’s not just my brother’s best friend. They’re teammates. And three, I’m in my self-care era. Unfortunately, a version of me equates self-care with bad choices.

Less angst than most
Revisado: 03-08-24
I liked that there wasn't a lot of drawn out angst or a female with chapters of feeling "I'm not worthy." There were doubts yes, which is normal. The moment she spoke up for herself was awesome. The lead male character was fabulous. I bought this on the daily deal for $1.99 so I had low-ish expectations. I was very pleasantly surprised.

Stick with It
Revisado: 01-27-24
This was a thoughtful and well-written story with interesting characters. The fact that it's based on a true story makes even more real and compelling. It started off a bit slow but stick with it. I teared up a couple of times as the story is heartbreaking yet touching. There's some religion in it that made sense but it got to be a little heavy at the end there... Narrator was really good.

Archaeologist Verity Grey has been drawn to the dark legends of the Scottish Borderlands in search of the truth buried in a rocky field by the sea. Her eccentric boss has spent his whole life searching for the resting place of the lost Ninth Roman Legion and is convinced he's finally found it - not because of any scientific evidence, but because a local boy has "seen" a Roman soldier walking in the fields, a ghostly sentinel who guards the bodies of his long-dead comrades.

Not what I expected
Revisado: 08-24-23
After seeing the ad on Instagram, I thought this is going to be darker and at least a little steamy. The writing is good, I liked the dialogue and subject matter. It just wasn't what I expected and was a bit slow to get going.

Historia
Do you believe in love at first sight? Corey Ellis sure doesn't. Oh, everyone around him seems to have found their happy ending, but he's far too busy to worry about such things. He'll have plenty of time for romance after he survives his last summer before graduation. So what if he can't get his former professor, Jeremy Olsen, out of his head? It's nothing more than hero worship. And that's the way it should stay. Except bi-gender Corey - aka Kori - is interning at Phoenix House for the summer, an LGBTQI youth center, and the director just so happens to be a certain former professor.

Narrator was great
Revisado: 07-18-23
I didn't mind the change in narrator. I liked that they chose a POC as well. TJ Klune did a great job with humor, a deeply written cast of characters, and bringing in real world elements. I read some reviews where the politics was seen as a negative, but I liked that he brought it in. It's real life and I think is an important part of the narrative. Many LGBTQ+ books out there to choose instead if you were less interested in that, but you're missing out. TJ Klune is one of the best out there.

Historia
Do you believe in love at first sight? Paul Auster doesn't. Paul doesn't believe in much at all. He's thirty, slightly overweight, and his best features are his acerbic wit and the color commentary he provides as life passes him by. His closest friends are a two-legged dog named Wheels and a quasibipolar drag queen named Helena Handbasket. He works a dead-end job in a soul-sucking cubicle, and if his grandmother's homophobic parrot insults him one more time, Paul is going to wring its stupid neck.

This is indeed a laugh out loud, touching, wonderfully written tale with a cast of characters you'll fall in love with. Narrator did an excellent job with the streams of consciousness dialogue. So good.
