Riveting!
Revisado: 02-22-24
Don't miss this read if you are even remotely interested in crime scene investigation. I couldn't stop listening. There wasn't a single moment when I wasn't listening intently. No "fluff." Fascinating and informative. The narrator's voice perfectly suits the content. You feel like you're there, helping them, rooting them on.

Historia
Narrated by Emmy Award–winning actor Martin Sheen, The Home Front: Life in America During World War II takes listeners into the lives of Americans at home—part of the Greatest Generation—who supported the war effort and sustained the country during wartime. The war brought immediate, life-changing shifts: the rationing of meat, dairy products, and sugar; an explosion of war-related jobs; and, despite mixed signals, a greater role for women working outside the home.

Surprise Ending

After a delightful read, it has the strangest ending in my 50+ years of reading. Just drops off.

Historia
Verily, the story Biff has to tell is a miraculous one, filled with remarkable journeys, magic, healings, kung fu, corpse reanimations, demons, and hot babes. Even the considerable wiles and devotion of the Savior's pal may not be enough to divert Joshua from his tragic destiny. But there's no one who loves Josh more (except maybe "Maggie," Mary of Magdalan) and Biff isn't about to let his extraordinary pal suffer and ascend without a fight.

Surprising
Revisado: 10-11-18
Fisher Stevens can narrate anything and make it great! Christopher Moore has reached outside of his normal zone on this one--and I, surprisingly, learned a lot. What starts as sounding deliberately irreverent, ends up being a thought-provoking (but still entertaining) read. I think Moore has achieved an incredible balance on this one.

Historia
Six-time Emmy Award-winning funnyman Tim Conway, best known for his characters on The Carol Burnett Show, offers a straight-shooting and hilarious memoir about his life on stage and off as an actor and comedian. In television history, few entertainers have captured as many hearts and made as many people laugh as Tim Conway. There's nothing in the world that Tim Conway would rather do than entertain - and in his first-ever memoir, What's So Funny?, that's exactly what he does.

Pleasant
Revisado: 10-11-18
If you're looking to uproariously laugh--like Tim made us do on the Carol Burnett show--this is not the read to make that happen...which surprised me. It's pleasant and "nice" to listen to, but no real surprises or hilarity.

Not What You Expect from Christopher Moore
Revisado: 09-05-18
I cut my teeth on "A Dirty Job" and "Secondhand Souls" which were hysterical and engaging. This one? I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, honestly. Title and author hooked me--but the story just didn't. Ugh. Painful.

Historia
People start dropping dead around Charlie, giant ravens perch on his building, and it seems that everywhere he goes, a dark presence whispers to him from under the streets. Strange names start appearing on his nightstand notepad, and before he knows it, those people end up dead, too. Yup, it seems that Charlie Asher has been recruited for a new job, an unpleasant but utterly necessary one: Death.
