Tragic story, but important
Revisado: 04-25-25
Well written. Wonderful narration. Heartbreaking story. How can humans be so cruel? Her own family was awful, except for one sister. Happily she found true love, and the courage to finally tell her story. All the best to you, Carol!

One September morning, Doug accidentally runs right into another surfer on the beach. There are rules about these things. Shallow, self-absorbed main character
Revisado: 04-02-24
This was my second Holly Craig book, and the first was much better. Was tempted to quit but persevered. Emma had a savior complex, thinking only she could [fill in the blank]. Even after their tortuous experience, her descriptions made it clear she was still the spoiled, materialistic woman as before. Story dragged. And how old were her kids supposed to be? Their behaviors could keep you guessing! Does Craig actually know any real kids? Things wrapped up predictably at the end. Book should have been much shorter. Disappointing, but at least it was free.

Authentic, unlikeable characters
Revisado: 03-26-24
Very insightful- both main characters are jealous of each other, critical, but basically guilty of the same character flaws. Interesting story. Writing shows emotional maturity of the author. Well done, interesting ending. Will look for more from this author.

Brilliant writing
Revisado: 02-29-24
Yes, it involves dark topics. Many books do. Parts were hard to listen to, but they should be, given the story. Narrator was outstanding. Resolution brought relief. “Bonus book” was fluff, or maybe I was just really ready to be done once I finished the main book. Overall, I would definitely look for this author and narrator again. Intelligently done.

Ridiculous “legal” scenes
Revisado: 02-23-24
Not a single likable character. Too many implausible scenes. This author appears to have no actual knowledge about lawyers, trials, law enforcement, etc. Unbelievably childish- apparently lawyers mostly shuffle and stack papers, and have only brief, meaningless meetings. Meanwhile, all law enforcement is arrogant and/or corrupt and/or violent. Narrators were annoying, but in their defense, recording this book must have been a painful experience if they have any intelligence. I finished it because it’s what I do with books. I don’t give such negative reviews unless absolutely warranted, and I won’t waste money on this author again.

Historia
Millions of people–looking to cheat on their partners–signed up for Ashley Madison in the early 2000s, seeking a private space to share their public desires. The promise of discretion was shattered in the summer of 2015, when anonymous hackers stole the company’s cache of user information and published it worldwide. The result? One of the most shocking data breaches of the internet age. Overnight, millions of unfaithful spouses had their real names, addresses and sexual preferences published online in a searchable database that anyone could browse.

Thoughtfully written
Revisado: 02-08-24
This was free and not too long, so I figured I’d give it a try. Much better than I expected! The basic story of the site, hackers, etc. was interesting. The authors handled it thoughtfully and presented different perspectives. They never made you feel like you had to choose sides. While I personally wouldn’t do what these characters have done, some drew more sympathy from me than others. That said, I certainly don’t condone cheating in relationships and have no respect for liars. The narrator was excellent, much better than my first impression - she sounds young because she is, but did a winning job.

Music was annoying. Narrator tries to inject drama where there is none, About halfway through, I read reviews and realized there was no point in finishing it. Not enough story to justify listening to her.

Historia
I ran from home to escape heartbreak, only to deliver myself into the hands of a wolf. Henry Wolf, that is. Heir to a luxury hotel chain, infamous playboy, arrogant bastard...and my new boss. Why he wants me, Abbi Mitchell - a girl who lacks experience on every front that would matter to him - as his personal assistant, I cannot fathom, especially when I keep messing up in the most spectacular way. Did I already mention he's a bastard? A beautiful, moody one, who's quick to demand, slow to apologize. And toying with me every chance he gets.

Cliche after cliche. Tiresome caricatures for characters. Author enjoys painting Christians as negatively as possible. Gave up after skipping around a few chapters, waste of time. Narrator was ok, but had crappy material to read.
