Good advice

Minus the divorce and being a couch potato, this story could be mine. I spent years keeping meticulous count of every calorie, fat gram, and carb and logging every single workout. The weight still piled on gradually.

Historia
Hillbilly Elegy is a passionate and personal analysis of a culture in crisis - that of white working-class Americans. The decline of this group, a demographic of our country that has been slowly disintegrating over 40 years, has been reported on with growing frequency and alarm but has never before been written about as searingly from the inside. J. D. Vance tells the true story of what a social, regional, and class decline feels like when you were born with it hung around your neck.

Poignant and important
Revisado: 08-07-17
The story is riveting and hearing it being read by the author was both funny and sad. There were times that Mamaw made me laugh out loud and there were times I fought back tears. I am grateful to the author for sharing his story.

Historia
Sixty-nine-year-old Arthur Pepper lives a simple life. He gets out of bed at precisely 7:30 a.m., just as he did when his wife, Miriam, was alive. He dresses in the same gray slacks and mustard sweater-vest; waters his fern, Frederica; and heads out to his garden. But on the one-year anniversary of Miriam's death, something changes. Sorting through Miriam's possessions, Arthur finds an exquisite gold charm bracelet he's never seen before.

Loved it

This book made me talk to the recording. Sometimes I was yelling at it inside my car. Needless to say I think the story and it's telling are very engaging.
